my friend wants to sell me his 83 accord 5 speed for 400 bucks. supposibly it runs and drives good, but keeps going through wheel hub bearings. he says it needs a new hub, any clue on what the problem could be.

is the car worth money? i just want i car thats good on gas that i can have fun with.

Anything that runs decent and does not look like total hell and rusted out is worth $400 IMO. I want a mid 80's Accord hatch 5-speed . I'm not sure about the Hubs.

suspension. get the car, rework the suspension, put NEW bearings in, you'll be good to go.

I have owned about a hundred of these cars over the years and they were great cars. Especially the 5 speed tranny's they ran forever. If it looks half way decent $400 is a steal. I was getting about 40 mph when I used to buy them, $10 would fill up the tank back in the late 90's. As far as the bearing problema, Is the race clean without burs or roughness? That might be why the bearing keeps going out.
