| I am looking to swap a F20B VTEC into my Accord EX and would like suggestions on hardware, axles, and anything else that would help it to run smoothly. I am looking to keep it natually aspirated, but would be looking to add cold air intake. Can I keep the stock wheels in place with it? I am looking to build this car into a tuner, but slowly as it is my daily driver. Thanks to all. Jason |

| f20b is basically the same has h22a. so i think it's safe to say anything that works for h22 will work for f20b. so just research the h22a swap then come back and ask any specific questions that might linger. of course, you'll get people asking you why an f20b when the h22 makes like 20 more ft/lb torque than f20 and your car isn't exactly a stripped hatch. |

| Well, simply put- the F20B is less expensive than an H22, and besides, EVERYONE does an H22! Why not do something different? Wanna help?! BTW, thanks for the info! |

| My manual transmission will bolt up to an F20B? How? Can I install a LSD in my transmission? What axles would serve me best? Thanks for your input. I appreciate my Honda brethren! Jason |

| buy the lsd and go to a reputable shop. you just bolt the block to tranny & half shaft to the block. the gears will be longer but you can definately use it. i'm planning to buy the f20b long block and use an H/F>B plate... it lets you use a b series engine with an h/f long block |

| where'd you find an f20b for cheaper than h22? f20b is rarer than h22a and usually newer as well, so it's almost always more expensive. if you found that, you either got a damn good deal or you weren't looking hard enough for an h22 to begin with. and the f20b engine is basically an h22a engine in 2.0 liter form. why they called it 'f20b' instead of h20 is beyond me. but beyond that, the h-series engines and f-series engines (including f20b, but excluding f20c and f22c) all use the same mount pattern and clutch/flywheel combo as well. so like was said already, all you really need is the f20b longblock. if i'm not mistaken, intake manifolds will even swap over, although using your stock im will almost surely sap some ponies. with that in mind, h22 axles may be stronger, so using them probably wouldn't be a bad idea. also, f20b transmission has lsd stock, at least sometimes. so does the h22a tranny. you could probably find an lsd'd h22 tranny for a few bills. |

| ok, but can I use my stock ECU and if so, how? I found a F20B engine online for $895, but also found one w/transmission. Are there better axle shafts made aftermarket instead of using JDM Honda axles, or is it better to use the Honda axles? You guys are a great help. Where are you guys from anyway? I'm Jason in Houston, Texas. |

| i live in orlando florida. i would not use the stock ecu. your car is obd1 so you just need to buy a p28 chipped with a base map for the f20b if you just want it in the car reuse your transmission and axles. once you have more money you can get the better tranny and clutch etc..... |

| Thanks Snoopy. Do I need to do anything with the ECU? Is a Hondata piggyback going to be necessary? What axles would you recommend to use? Can I keep the stock wheels, making it a sleeper? What's everybody's real names anyway? |

| unless you plan to be doing neutral drops a lot, the stock axles should be able to hold up to f20b power for normal driving especially since the torque is on par with f22, just more power up top. hondata would make tuning easier, but as far as i know, isn't mandatory. you'll have to convert that obd2 engine to obd1 = fun with wiring. and yes, put whatever wheels on it that strike your fancy. |

Also, any F or H-series motor (the S2000 motor being the only exception) will bolt into your car and bolt up to whatever transmission is in there. You don't need anything but the motor, and an appropriate ECU. Just tell whoever you're buying the motor from that you want to put it in a 92 automatic Accord, and they should be able to recommend an appropriate ECU for you. I guess you could use a piggyback computer, but I'm sure there's a factory ECU out there that will work for your purposes.

| wow im amazed at the people who just flat out dont know what they are talking about "answering questions". i have personally done this swap and let me tell you first of all there is absolutely NO WIRING at all that has to be done. 98-2001 accords are OBD2b and so is the f20b motor. just plug in the f20b ecu into the stock harness and all of the under dash plugs match up. since your accord was an EX it already has the vtec wiring in it (which is the only wiring necisary for non EX accords). the f20b is a great motor for that model accord because it just bolts right up and plugs right in and takes you from 130lt-lbs/145hp to 145 ft-lbs/200hp(not to mention the screaming 8400rpm redline). for 90-95 accords go h22 since most of them came obd1 and so are 90-95 accords. 96-97 accords are obd2a and actually require the use of a jumper harness or the nightmare of cutting and splicing underdash pins onto the donor ecu |

| I am doing the same thing on my friend's 98 accord with F22 SOHC engine swapped to F20B DOHC Vtec with LSD Tranny. The only problems I am encountering is that the two main plugs from the right front panel under the fuse box. I changed them into the same color coded wires that corresponded to JDM F20B plugs and the ECU has 4 extra wires that needs to be solder into something? A plug - White/Black stripe and 1 silver paint, Red/Yellow stripe with 2 silver paint, Green/Red stripe (ELD)with 2 silver paint and Gray with 2 silver paint. |
