Ive seen alot of these topics here but i cant find the info i need. I was wondering, will a H22A Vtec 92-95 Prelude engine bolt directly to my 1990 Accord LX. I have an auto transmission. Or is it just the OBD1 H22A engine that will bolt to my car no problems?
Also if the 92-95 Prelude will with some work or by its self bolt to my car. What will i need to do to make the engine fit? |

Ok first off if you have a 92-95 h22a bb4 motor that is still obd1. I am in the process of doing the same swap into my 96 accord. yours would be much easier as your car is already obd1. You would however need to run a vtec harness and a couple pins at the ecu connector would have to be changed. Some slight mods are needed to make the motor mounts work, getting the hasport ones is much easier. This is a very easy swap and could be done over a weekend if you have the shop, tools and knowledge. Is it a JDM or USDM h22a you plan on using(it makes a difference). Let me know what you need to know I will try and help with whatever I can.

What are you doing about the transmission though? Are you re-using the Accord's tranny or swapping to an automatic Prelude tranny? I would recommend swapping to the Prelude tranny; the Accord tranny is going to bog down your new engine with its crappy gear ratios.

drop in the new motor, run one wire for vtec, two for vtec. the black wire off of the vtec solonoid you will just ground out on the motor. grind the driver side motor mount just a little bit and bam you have an h22 powered vehicle

Don't threadjack and resurrect old threads, start your own next time. And yes, you can make an H22 head work on an F22 block, but honestly it's more trouble than it's worth. I would recommend just swapping an entire H22 in. You're going to need a new ECU either way, and if you keep the Accord transmission, than swapping an H22 won't be all that expensive.

i have to anyways because some dumb ass put to small of a piston in it when it was rebuilt and so sleeves are the only option to be able to use the block. im also thinkin about sleevin the valve guides and runnin about 10.5:1.

its the same principle as boring and sleevin the cylinders. you press in a different type of metal, not sure what kind, and it limits friction and increases valve and valve spring life. the motor i have is a 97' h22a4. it came out of a prelude si. im putting it in a 4th gen accord w/ 5 speed manual. does anyone know how much weight diff. im lookin at?
