Well guys, heres where I'm kinda at...

I'm debating whether or not I should go through with the ITB setup, or ditch that idea and setup a low boost, small turbo setup.
I've been asking around on HMT, and I know I could do it, but IDK if it would be the best thing for me.

After some talking with turbo guys and running the Zealautowerks calculator, I've figured that with my 11:1 compression, boosting 6psi woud yield around a 15.4-6:1 effective compression ratio. Blah blah blah..

I know everything I do to my engine to make more power means less life to the engine. But if I went with ITB's and nitrous.. it's gonna hurt me too. However, with a turbo setup, the motor can be specifically tuned to my setup, for the best overall performance, and be pretty reliable overall.

IDK. I'm just talking out of my butt now, but I'm still very interested...

Thoughts?

The turbo setup would be pretty cool. But, so would the itb's. The only problem with them is that you want to use nitrous. Abandon the nitrous idea so that you dont melt the motor. Just go with the turbo and tune it right and you should be real happy.

Do you really wan't to risk wasting $3700.00? I mean, all engines wear out, but the ITB's would be much safer and would stress the engine much less than boost (obviously).

Like I said before... One hiccup on the bottle/or any kind of boost and you usually don't get a second chance.

I'd like to see you do the ITB's because that's something I may be interested in too.. Turbo is out of the question for me and my poor self.

Why do you ask Formby? You know that

:D

I've been researching this whole turbo idea, and asking a lot of questions on HMT, and with 5.5/6 psi, i don't think I'll have any problems on pump gas, but I just havent convinced myself that I want to do it.
Sure it would be fun and all, but like you said, Terrance, I'll just be that much closer to killing this motor [faster than I am now].

However, I'm not going to do ITB's just because 1. it'll be safer, and 2. just because you want to do them in the future.
ITB's are cool and all, but I just have a BIG feeling that I'll want more power, end up spraying it, and blow something up before I know it.
Nitrous < Turbo as far as safety.

I'd rather have a boosted motor and have the peace of mind knowing that it's tuned perfectly for every RPM.

BTW Terrance, you and your big mouth got word around to my dad about me thinking of asking Cally out a while ago... queer! :p
Thought you were my homie

I said NOTHING to either of your parents suckah. I told Meglet because I knew it would freak her out that her lil bro was interested in somebody :D. SHE must have said something or somebody else said something cause I would'nt do that to ya mang.

And you automatically blame me  My feeling has been hurt :(

No. Heres how girls work mang- you tell meggie, meggie tells mom and god knows who else, mom tells dad, dad jokes to me about it

haha
so yeah, I blame you. :)

Well, Cally's got teh B's, so I might have to "make the switch" over after I'm done playin with these stinkin turbo D's

roflollerskates or something to that degree.

Actually, I say the C series is about the best.. But what do I know? I'm a 38DD series ;)
I hope the thought " Damn, wish I didn't know that." just went through your head :)

Are you gonna have anythign else done before the dyno?

Well, I took off my IM the other day, cleaned/polished my throttle body so it doesnt stick anymore, and redid some wiring on the back, redid my injector wiring, routed my clutch cable under the IM, fixed some coolant lines and installed my catch can. (all that from just wanting to clean the throttle body... heh)

While the manifold was off, I was prepping the Y8 mani to put it on. After I was about to take off my fuel rail and swap it over, I suddenly saw a problem I didn't know about. The z6 fuel rail has 3 mounting holes, the y8 has 2. they didn't line up. Soo, since it was too late to go out to Pick'nPull, I just put it back on.

So basically all I did was fix some wiring, cleaned my throttle body, and installed the catch can. Nothing else will be done for the dyno :( maybe besides indexing my sparkplugs
Unless you guys have any ideas...
