Dude.. it was awesome at the meet tonight.. People were checking out my car and sayin they liked my engine bay :)

Made a white boy happy :)

...thats what it comes down to. show.

Back to the old show vs go debate then, eh?

My vote is always go over show, frankly. Then again, I've flat-blacked just about everything under the hood because I dig the way it looks & black is my favorite color.

Any Douglas Adams fans in here?

Oh man this weekend was pretty fun!
I didn't Dyno my car saturday, though. :(
But my buddy in his DC5 did, got a baseline run of 171whp/~126wtq.
Then around lunchtime we got to work on my 240sx project. We pulled the 4.3Vortec out of "spongebob" (1970-somethin Chevy Chevette lol... 1500 or so LBS with 210hp v6 = FUN)

I've got thursday-thru-tuesday off of school this week(end), so the plan is to trailer the 240sx back to my house and I'll get to work welding up all of the holes in the engine bay
Wire-tucks/shaving ftw! I'm excited! I've been looking forward to doing a full shave on something... and now's my chance.
FYI I'm pretty much decided on a Battleship Grey color scheme for it.

Terrance- Please feel free to post up all those pics you took this weekend!

And there ya go... A FULL weekend and a tiring one :)

Haha... Yeah it was pretty fun.
Thanks for the pics, bro.

I've got a few pics that may be worth posting up. I might do it later today.

Wow. Mega-post attack!

:huh:What where the numbers from the dyno on that pot-belly?

Well, I'm jealous as hell. Since my recent move, the nearest dyno is at least an hour away...:(....junkyard is 30-40min....& 1/4mi? Like three hours to Bakersfield....

:bawling:

Does that hunk o' S%@T from da' spongebob work?

let me know if you ever hit up the strip at Famoso .. i'll roll out myself, its like 30 min. away.. .. never taken my car there before either.. ..

Does that hunk o' S%@T from da' spongebob work?

Oh yes, very much so. It hadn't been cranked in almost 7 months.. The battery had even died in it.
Put a new battery in and it fired up on the first crank and idled. May not sound like much, but when you're dealing with a carburettor it's a pretty big thing.

And I am not joking when I say Spongebob raped my midley modified GT 5.0.. badly. So bad I lost concentration and missed third because this damn Chevette was spanking my 5.0. It's other race was an Lexus IS300. The poor guy was beaten so bad he didn't even stop he just kept on driving while his buddies (about 25 of em) were rolling.

13's are very feasable with traction in the 240sx and a definite with nitrous.

We'll make it look good. Don't worry. Nothing looks good right now, but we'll see what a TLC can do for it.

BTW Terrance, IDK If I'll be coming down there while I have my 'vacation' from school. I may be going out to Arizona for the entire time to do some work with my dad. IDK. I'll keep you posted

I dunno if I'll be in town or not.. We'll see.

DId you remove your AC yet or no? I think I"m gonna talk to Meggie about that 88 DX Hatch thats on TMCA, doesn't have AC.

He's desperate and said he was open to offers ;)

Hey man... Look at the IM in this pic you posted in muh thr3ad.
Patscrxandgraffitable003.jpg

You see that IM? He had cut it apart so he could port the IM runners better.

Which, got me thinking.... That metal is fairly thick (over 3/16. easy). I could use the plasma cutter to cut open a IM and do the same thing, then have it welded back.

When you swap IM's on your b16.. Give it to me. I want to do it. I'd do it on my old GSR IM but it's pointless.

What I NEED is to get ahold of an aftermarket (Blox, AEBS, ect) and port that... Then re-sell it.

Hmmnn... Think I could do that and turn a profit?

you need to start doin some of this aftermarket shit and sellin it cuz there's stuff like that I'd definately buy

Which, got me thinking.... That metal is fairly thick (over 3/16. easy).

Depends on what kind of metal it is & how good a welder you are. It'd be counter-procutive to port the intake, & then have weld boogers hanging out on the inside. That is, if you're talking about steel. Welding other types of metal can get tricky. Aluminum, for example, requires totallt different setup.

Hmmnn... Think I could do that and turn a profit?

Maybe if you started w/ junkyard stuff to keep initial cost down....

Terrance doesnt weld, but works at a company that strictly welds aluminum fuel cells/tanks. So welding Aluminum isn't an issue.

Terrance, I'd read up on ENDYN's article on porting IM's. They cut down like 3 lbs of metal on an aftermarket S2!

Sorry for the delay, guys. I have today(thursday) through tuesday OFF school, so i'm working my butt off to buy new stuff.
Over the past few days I've done the following: (I'll get pics up sooner or later)
Tore apart a spare SI harness and started to re-do my wiretuck. I gutted the AC and fan assembly(behind the glovebox), so i've got plenty of room to work now.
I've also started on my valve cover. I got it off and ready to start sanding the letters off(yeah I'm gonna shave it) and paint it.

blah blah blah pics later.

I've thought about the polished metal look, but I just don't think I'll like it. And I don't wanna spend that much time on it.

Little update:

The other day I picked up some -10AN stuff for a catch can (gonna weld a bung to the Valve cover) All of this for $35. I gave him a couple 20's since it was such a great deal ^_^.
The fittings alone are worth $40. They're $19.98/piece!

DSCN9428.jpg

Then I pulled the cover off to see what she looks like underneath.

DSCN9430.jpg

Looks pretty good! It's obvious it doesnt have a lot of miles on it.

Then my boss told me about his "special sandwich recipe..."... So I just HAD to make one.
Ingredients: (get ready)
Peanut Butter
Slice of Cheese (I used Munster. You can use w/e you want)
Mustard
Garlic Salt.

DSCN9435.jpg

Seriously. It sounds disgusting, but it's actually pretty good!!!

hahahaha...
Thats it for now. I'll snap some shots of my wiring harness that I'm prepping soon.

-Andrew

Wait, you're not going to diamond plate the whole thing? :D

I have two more special sandwich recipes for you involving PB...& they sound better than garlic salt...
First try PB & Butter. You have to use real butter though, & you have to lay it on pretty thick. Mmmmm....

My most favoritest sandwich of all time is my Grilled Peanut Butter & Bannana W/ Mini-Marshmellows on Whole Wheat Bread. You have to try this one.

Hey n00b.... Want me to bring the drill bit so I can cut your VC at your house?

And post up some more work of the tuck

I'll have to get that a try, gumbo! Makin me hungry, man :p

I did this last night. I've still got some sanding to do, but it's looking good, so far.

DSCN9462.jpg

I thought about leaving it like this...

DSCN9474.jpg

But then decided to go ahead and do a complete shave.

DSCN9478.jpg

And this is how I left it...

DSCN9483.jpg

Like I said, I've still gotta do some more sanding, but didn't have any good paper around. Probably going to do a 600, 800, 1000 combo and it should be good and ready for paint. Color? idk.

Also got some work done on the wire-tuck:
-Gutted AC/fan assembly.
-Working on getting dash out then removing heater core. (it's FL, I'll just wear a sweater... lol)
-Then I'll block off the heater hose ports on the engine.
-Then I'll start running the wires. I'm going to make the harness come out of the heater hoses hole.
-Then the interior will go back in.

Let the tear down begin!

DSCN9438.jpg

DSCN9436.jpg

DSCN440.jpg

Using the D as a mock-up. I'm not cutting any wires, just depinning/rerouting them cleaner and more easily tuckable.
DSCN9443.jpg

Got the old harness out >>
DSCN9449.jpg

POOF
DSCN9450.jpg

DSCN9453.jpg

DSCN9454.jpg

I do Have 1 question, though. I read somewhere that the injectors are definitely separated from the rest of the harness.... Thats true except for the 1 wire that goes to the IACV. (the Blue one). Thats all fine and dandy, but I want it to be clean. My question is: Does this black wire coming from the IACV get grounded or does it carry a signal to the ECU? If it's grounded, Sweet!... But idk if it is... Anyone know?

You can see it dangleing here...
DSCN9444.jpg

And I held it up, here...
DSCN9446.jpg

And this is the black one. It goes into this 90* connection.
DSCN9447.jpg

wondering if I can ground it. If so, I'd do this >>

DSCN9448.jpg

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

PLUS in the midst of all of this I'm going to take off the Full-Race Traction bar and install the stocker . The deal kinda went sour and the guy wants me to buy a new windshield for the Civic and stuff, so I just said I'd give him back the traction bar and we'd be through with the transaction. I'll clean up the civic [maybe me and Terrance will paint it] and sell it.. then buy something else with that flow.(possibly an ETD traction bar or maybe focus on suspension/swaybars/bushing replacement, etc. Idk yet.)

Thats where I'm at!
I'll be a lot more active with the progress guys, I've been in such a slump lately.
