Good idea on primering your VC.. I should have done that myself.

I have some clear coat if you want it. Make it all wet looking and whatnot.

Thanks but I think I've got some.
I'm going to wet sand it and if I think it needs some more protection I'll go ahead and clear it.
We'll see

Terrance thats pretty cool, man! Are you thinking of doing some stuff like that?

Heres the pics I promised!
Got my gauge bezel holder thingy almost done; Just gotta paint it and attach it somehow. (probably just use some super glue and something else ghetto.)

Boost > Oil > Voltage or Water. Probably voltage.

Then I finished masking off the VC and did a little priming. (4 coats to be exact. laid it on extra thick in the middle area.) It's not going to be perfect. I accidently grinded a little too much in a few little places. Maybe a sticker or something can fix that :p
You might actually not even notice it when I get the darker grey on there. idk. I'm not too worried about it.

That'll do.

Looks good!

So what's the final color going to look like?

And the gauge setup looks cool too. Are you ditching your head unit though? Or is that space the pocket underneath?

Grey with some gloss in it.

The gauges are in the climate control area. I'll still have my Jamz :)

You should do a skim coat of bondo to fill those gouges, tho I'm not sure how bondo would hold up to the heat.
If they're not terribly deep, you can put a thick coat of filler primer on, then block sand til you hit the aluminum around the gouge, and repeat until it's flat.

I will say what my old painting buddy said to me "How hot do you think a black car gets sitting in 110 degree direct sunlight all day long?"

Hope that answers your question. Just use good quality filler.

Quick update before I leave on my trip

I'll be gone 'till Sunday night, but may have computer access at the Hotel.

Heres what I got accomplished yesterday:

I just plugged the Coolant hoses. I've got to wait until I either 1) get a rubber Cap, and 2) get the Honda Plug for it. (I'll give the part # in a couple days, don't really have time to go find it.)

Just monkeying around in photoshop:

Nice spot for the guages. Can't believe you just gutted all the climate stuff, though. Dayum!

What da hell r u doing Andrew !!!

Making a track car man. This baby's gonna see Road Atlanta and a few others nearby. :)
I'm buying a DD soon. This'll be the official toy.

I'll have that Traction Bar off soon. I was in GA all weekend, so I didn't get any time to do it; my bad.

Couple weeks ago I bought a 93 altima gxe 5spd for $300 bucks, granted it was off my brother. May look like a grandma car, but it came with new tires and permission to rip into the rex

-Got the Traction bar off and the stock one installed (after some grinding, torching, and beating of the front torque mount  [and  at the same time. cause now my radiator is all ghetto-leaning b/c the lack of Rad. mounts(cause the F-Race and most aftermarket ones fit right there.)]

-Put a few coats of the grey paint on the valve cover

-Made a few templates to cut out of sheetmetal tomorrow at school to act as Firewall plugs. (going to paint them black and silicone them to the firewall from the inside.)

Pics later or tomorrow. Sorry for the tease!
