about $3200-$3300 for complete change-over not including mounts.. i thinks its totally doable with $3600

but more props to Andrew for having a built SOHC that'll run with b-series VTECs

Eh, It was lost a long time ago. And like the sig says, I don't know shit about Hondas. But I am inadvertantly preferential to the D series, so I applaude Andrew for this killer project

Shop and warranty

And pretty much any good shop will warranty their stuff, at least for a little while.

IT RUNS!

Fired it up tonight, but it's not idling. at all. I can hold it steady at 1,000rpm and even lower, and it's great!, but it dies when I let off the throttle.
Steadily throwing code 10 (IAT). It's plugged in, but who knows... just takes time to tweak the kinks out.
Pics and Vids(god it'll take a while for these) on the way! (uploading)

And as far as the engine sounds... it sounds like a $3600 motor should sound like. revs up like a freaking F1 car(thanks to the light flywheel), and sounds badass with the stage 2 cam!
I've got to say. All this work-up about KMS's garbage has pretty much gone away. I'm just happy to hear it run, and not have any valve chatter or anything. It's runs BEA-utifully.

My buddy Eli in the red beany, my brother in law, Mac_24_Seven in the Michigan hat, and Abel bolting stuff in.

I even dared to get my hands dirty!

After a bit of tuggin

I'll snap a better "final" picture tomorrow. We're all pretty wiped.
Videos are gonna kick my butt. I'll eventually get the good ones uploaded.

Enjoy!

1. Tuning is after I run it a little bit. It's got a S2 basemap in it, and it seems to run GREAT with it!
2. I was actually thinking wrinkle red... like ITR red... what do you guys think?

Red would be ok... but definatly stand out with your clean wiretuck. I had wrinkle red valve cover on my old green civic hatch and i felt like a douche when i opened my hood and had that tiny red valve cover. Just my opinion

so what are your power goals out of this engine? and is this the one you plan on turbo'ing even with the high comp?

I would still get the air/fuel ratios checked out before you do too much driving- you don't want to be running too lean or too aggressive on the timing and overexpand a piston or something. Did the basemap come from KMS as the recommended setup for that engine?

on getting it done.

It all depends on the shop- but if a shop isn't going to give you any kind of warranty on their work, don't buy from them.

Ok. I'll try to get my hands on a wideband soon. Thanks for the reminder!
The basemap came from the guy thats gonna tune it. It told him specs of the motor, and he chose the best one he could think of. After I break it in, he's gonna tune it for real, by sitting in the pass. seat and tune it with Crome with a wideband 'till it's perfect.

That's good- if he's a good tuner, then your basemap should be pretty stable on your setup. I hope.

He's an old friend of Taco15, and has always done great work, so I'm confident in his 'guessing' my basemap.

Abel's basemap was right on the money, so I think I'll be straight!
