I've thought about the polished metal look, but I just don't think I'll like it. And I don't wanna spend that much time on it. Little update: The other day I picked up some -10AN stuff for a catch can (gonna weld a bung to the Valve cover) All of this for $35. I gave him a couple 20's since it was such a great deal . The fittings alone are worth $40. They're $19.98/piece! ![]() Then I pulled the cover off to see what she looks like underneath. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Looks pretty good! It's obvious it doesnt have a lot of miles on it. Then my boss told me about his "special sandwich recipe..."... So I just HAD to make one. Ingredients: (get ready) Peanut Butter Slice of Cheese (I used Munster. You can use w/e you want) Mustard Garlic Salt. ![]() Seriously. It sounds disgusting, but it's actually pretty good!!! hahahaha... Thats it for now. I'll snap some shots of my wiring harness that I'm prepping soon. -Andrew

Wait, you're not going to diamond plate the whole thing? ![]() I have two more special sandwich recipes for you involving PB...& they sound better than garlic salt... First try PB & Butter. You have to use real butter though, & you have to lay it on pretty thick. Mmmmm.... My most favoritest sandwich of all time is my Grilled Peanut Butter & Bannana W/ Mini-Marshmellows on Whole Wheat Bread. You have to try this one.

I'll have to get that a try, gumbo! Makin me hungry, man :P I did this last night. I've still got some sanding to do, but it's looking good, so far. ![]() I thought about leaving it like this... ![]() But then decided to go ahead and do a complete shave. ![]() And this is how I left it... ![]() Like I said, I've still gotta do some more sanding, but didn't have any good paper around. Probably going to do a 600, 800, 1000 combo and it should be good and ready for paint. Color? idk. Also got some work done on the wire-tuck: -Gutted AC/fan assembly. -Working on getting dash out then removing heater core. (it's FL, I'll just wear a sweater... lol) -Then I'll block off the heater hose ports on the engine. -Then I'll start running the wires. I'm going to make the harness come out of the heater hoses hole. -Then the interior will go back in. Let the tear down begin! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Using the D as a mock-up. I'm not cutting any wires, just depinning/rerouting them cleaner and more easily tuckable. ![]() Got the old harness out >> ![]() POOF ![]() ![]() ![]() I do Have 1 question, though. I read somewhere that the injectors are definitely separated from the rest of the harness.... Thats true except for the 1 wire that goes to the IACV. (the Blue one). Thats all fine and dandy, but I want it to be clean. My question is: Does this black wire coming from the IACV get grounded or does it carry a signal to the ECU? If it's grounded, Sweet!... But idk if it is... Anyone know? You can see it dangleing here... ![]() And I held it up, here... ![]() And this is the black one. It goes into this 90* connection. ![]() wondering if I can ground it. If so, I'd do this >> ![]() Any help would be greatly appreciated! PLUS in the midst of all of this I'm going to take off the Full-Race Traction bar and install the stocker Thats where I'm at! I'll be a lot more active with the progress guys, I've been in such a slump lately. -Andrew

I think Black/Yel is Ignition power, so pretty much the opposite of ground. Trace it back to the bulkhead plug and then trace through the chassis harness, I'll bet that it's a power lead.

Gotcha yeah I just got in from work but am about to leave again for a meeting. I'll check it asap. I was just thinking about it while at work wondering what the heck I could do. Well in that case, I wonder if the blue one is being going to a resister, or if it's going somewhere else. Idk if my PDF Helms will tell me or not... I'll check it out lata.

I think the blk/yel one is power and the blue goes to the ECU to control that IACV.

Hmm... ok. Thanks Klyph. I'll just plan on keeping them both as they are. I'll just have to figure something out. Luckily theres plenty of extra wire in the blue one, so I don't think it'll be a problem at all. I'll be heading up to Home Depot and a few other places to find some good wire sleeving. I'm going to try and use as little corrugated(sp) looming as possible. And as little electrical tape as possible(or hopefully none at all- I've developed a hatred for the stuff when it's in the engine bay/exposed to heat; when it gets all nasty and sticky/slimy/makes your skin instantly turn black when you touch it., etc)

Black Hockey tape > * I used hockey pucks for mounts and hockey tape for all the wiring. I'm thinking about making a shifter out of a hockey stick just to follow the theme. Last edited by klyph; 10-23-2007 at 07:09 PM.

Ack! You're seriously going to give me nightmares! All those wire! Gah! Anyway, sorry I have no help to offer w/ the wiring. Just to say good luck.... That DP looks a whole lot better against the bare metal, BTW. If it were mine I'd try to polish & clearcoat.

Pshh... what a newbie... Well guys I went to Advanced last night and did a little wondering/shopping. Picked up some sandpaper, "filler" primer, and some "primer grey" color acrylic/enamel paint. I think I'll like that color with a little chrome/silver accents. We'll see what it looks like. I came home and did a little wet sanding with the 320grit on the spots where the lettering was. looks pretty good, so far. I wiped it all down with Mineral Spirits to clean all the metal shavings from the grinder, then blew it all off with the Airgun, and started masking off the sparkplug holes, oil filler cap hole, and a few other little things. I'm hoping the "filler primer" will take care of some of the 'grind-in' marks made from the grinder. They aren't very deep, so I'll do a couple coats of this stuff in that area and wet sand it a few times to make sure it looks good before paint gets laid. Sorry I'm in class and didn't bring my camera to load the pics. I'll do it today!
