Well, since my motor is shipped off to KMS Engine Development, I figure I have about a month to get my engine bay looking sweet... So I decided to try my hand at a wire tuck. However, I'm not going all out and moving the fusebox into the cabin, I'm just hopeing to relocate it out of site, just so I don't have to go through all that hassle. (At least thats my plan as of now. we'll see how confident I feel after this easy stuff :p)

On with it:
I'm gonna let the pictures do most of the talking.

And this is how it sits right now:

And thats that for now.
The plan for today is to get it washed up and start prepping for paint.(re-painting it white to clean it up.)

Updates soon!

Update 9/12

Well, it's been raining so bad the past few days.
I finally got fed up and continued working. Even though I got soaked to the bone, I made a little head-way.

1. I pressure washed the engine bay. (oooooohhh.... shiney...)
2. I got the Drivers side all connected and ready to be wired/soldered.
3. Got the main cabin/engine bay harness stripped of the looming to allow my passenger-side headlight group to be re-loomed for a cleaner, easier tuck.
*Remember, I'm not pulling my fuse box into the cabin. I'm mainly tucking my head light wiring and re-locating most of the other wiring, including the Fusebox.*

wire tuck looks good but i never have the patience to do it. i just make the wiring look clean and stock-ish. if it aint broke dont fix it. just some advice though, take your time, be maticulous (like OCD maticulous) and double and triple check everything along the way making sure things still work. it would really suck to get it all done and find out you really screwed up and have to retrace everything (which is now in not so easy to reach places).

looks like you re doing a good job so far though, so

Very very nice!

Formby- there are quite a few machine shops that do an excellent job at balancing the rotating assembly. Honda probably doesn't take the balance as far as most machine shops... they only have to satisfy a minimum requirement for daily drivers, and every balance I've ever had done is a "10k rpm balance" job.

I gave it a lot of thought before attempting it. Luckily I've got 1 month to do it, so I'm definatly taking my time. today and/or tomorrow I'll probably get started on soldering, and will obviously make sure all my solder points are extremely good.. Thanks for the helpful reminder!

KMS is a very respectable company, and I'm confident they will do a fine job.
They're useing top of the line equipment(cheapest cnc he has is $100k), and he has a lot of experience...

kms has a good rep. i wouldn't worry about it. Tuck looks good. i still think its a lot of work for nothing though....

i kind-of agree... a tuck does make things look cleaner and allows greater accessibility to the engine bay but not so much the wiring.

then again, if you arent changing the wiring much or not at all i think its worth it. i personally try to pull as much out as the engine bay as possible :)

looks nice, im actually doing a wire tuck on my accord too. But my engine is already in there and so far, ive only done the drivers side.

I probably wont finish up the pass side for a long time since I dont have the money to buy my battery relocation materials.

but as GSRCRXsi said, make you you check your wiring and check to see if it works before you finish the whole thing up. During my tuck, i somehow got the windshield wiper fucked up with my turn signals and everytime i turned on my turn signals my wipers would come on, lol.

keep up the good work!

I'll be sure to throw my battery in there and check my lights and stuff before I put my fenders on, but I think the whole wire tuck concept is extremely simple:
Reroute wires from the engine bay around the outside of the bay, just by extending a few wires.
... It's just SOOO time consuming!! I've got about 4 wires extended already on the passenger side, but it took about 20 min!

Anyway, I've got some pics to upload, but I won't be able to do it for a few hours.
Check back late tonight or tomorrow for my progress.

-Andrew

yea, it is very simple, but even MORE time consuming. it took me about 3 days(working on it only at night after work, about 3 hours a night) just to do the drivers side. I didnt solder, i just used some electrical tape :p I need more practice soldering wires before I attempt that.

you just madea big mistake, you have to solder those connections, they are the veins of your electrical system
soldering is not hard at all : heat and apply solder

i would go back and do it over
m2c

great job andrew, keep it up

its been doing fine now for a few months.

and on the drivers side wiring, the only wires extended were for the lights, and thats about it.
