that looks awesome, im thinking of doing it to my 91 with an ls swap in it. When you said 6 ga for the fuse box, you meant for that primary wire that goes from the pos. cable to the fuse block?
P>S> yeah kms is bullshite, i was just mail ordering some valve springs and retainers and valves and that asshole took his sweet time sending them, i think it took a month or so before i even got a shipping update on it.. STAY AWAY FROM KMS __________________

I can't wait to hear that. I'd definetely tear them a new one with the length of time it has taken for the build. Being "busy" isn't an excuse either, especially because they quoted you a month from the start. If they were "busy" all they had to say is, sorry it will take about a YEAR for your build to be completed.

As someone whos worked in a machine shop before, im saying that the phrase " too busy" should never be in your vocab. Its a business with customers, and if you dick over the customers, they never come back to you.. Bad business. __________________

Welp, I called 'em, but they didn't answer all day long... Left a nice message saying we're coming up on our 4 month anniversary. x) I'm definatly gonna tell him that I'm apart of these different forums, and will be pointing everyone I know in the other direction from him... Taking 4 months to build a D16.... could be worse... but when you lie straight to me one day, saying " were packaging it up to ship out tomorrow!", then 6 days later tell me, "wheres the cam gear??? can you ship it to me? o, and were almost done with the flywheel surfaceing and cam setting, and we're working on a rusted out oil pan stud."... I mean.... you just don't do that to business. ![]() ![]() (those are "boo's" ) |

Hell, I'm sure 3/4 of the regulars on the forum here could have built a D16 quicker than that. What a crappy way to do business. Missed deadlines and delays usually mean kissing the customers ass so he doesn't tell all of his friends. Not the exact opposite.

And something I learned there, never quote the customer short on time it will take to complete a task, because thats almost as bad as never completing it. I'm not saying to "dick over customers" just set a damn date that gives you enough time to get the shit done. __________________

I have done several swaps/builds/restores in 2 days.... and thats pulling the motor, ordering parts, putting motor back in.
It should take no longer than 1 week to COMPLETELY build a motor. It takes a pit crew less than 30 min to completely pull a drag motor, tear it apart, re build it, and put it back in the car. |

Exactly my thoughts, especially because it's a 'known' company, thats been in business for 8 years, and has built a CR-NSX, and many other race-cars!?
O well.. I'll be happy when it gets here. $500 for a completely built D16Z6 keeps my mind from imploding |

agreed, he should have had some simple foresight and not quoted you less time than it would actually take to complete the job..
Another good point was the actual build time. A novice builder could easily but together a sohc engine correctly in a few days, hes supposed to be a professional, which would lead anyone to beleive it would be done faster. Theres only so much forgiveness and inderstanding you should give anyone, after that point your getting abused. At least it was only 500 tho, That would make me happy ![]() __________________

Did the motor ever come in?
I hope so if not by now they should pay you for them doing the work. I might try that wire tuck this winter, I always thought it was more complicated than this. |
