Isn't that about the same thing as running your intake tubing into the AC blower? I know that was an old hot rodder trick, and i am probably gonna do that on my 69 chevy.

Wouldn't you actually lose hp running your intake to your AC, seeing as your motor uses hp to power the compressor?

And a leaf blower blows a LOT harder than an ac fan...

I always figured you could get a couple of extra horses out of a leaf blower. That sucks that its been made public.. I'm going to be running with some jackass and hear wooooeeeeeeeeeeeeaeaeaeaeaeaeaeaeaeae and he's gonna start pulling on me.

Leafblower > Ebay blower. Ebay blowers are basically the same motors that are found on your A/C or heat blower. Usually 1/8th, or 3/8 hp electrimotors. You're lucky to see 40mph out of them. Big, bad leaf blowers usually can push 200mph (gasoline versions), or slightly less for the electric versions. This is partially due to a better impeller (impeller vs. fan), and better gearing.

So how would you rig it so that you could have the leaf blower at full power all the time,or at full power when you accelerate/want it. That would be the trick. I imagine if you had it at full power all the time it would burn the leaf blower up pretty quickly. Also, would it be possible to change the exhast somehow to add to the "turbo/supercharger" benefit. Just curious. If you could get an electric leaf blower, get it to run off your cars electrical system, and shorten the tubing to allow the leaf blower to sit in your engine bay.... I suppose you could have it run all the time if you wanted it too. I would think it would be kind of loud and would probably get pretty hot.

How about this..... Hook a toggle switch up, as someone stated already, to have the electric leaf blower start up when you want it too. A gas powered one is out of the question. It seems you could only start one manually, and if you could find one with a push button start, having to stop and put gas in your leaf blower is just too ghetto even for me. To get the leaf blower to rev you could hook up a wire, perhaps similar to a hood release cable?? and have it connect around the "trigger" of the blower so that when you pull it up it could be locked into place and then released when done. I think you might wear the cable out quickly from lots of use but if you can find some material that is cheap and an easy way to run it besides under the fender this could be an extremely cheap upgrade to a car.... ghetto yes but hey, it's still 10 hp alone. With the Nos it was an even more impressive upgrade imo. Might try this on my delivery car just out of curiousity. If I do Ill get it dyno'd before and after and post pics.

yea but at $3.40 a gallon, i'm not wasting my money blowing gas powered leaf-blower air into my intake.
You will need a power inverter with an extremely high amp rating, we did this 3 years ago with my buddies 99 civic and my 89 prelude, the acceleration was great, but we ran out of extension cord... and yes i am dead serious
If you get a power inverter that can handle the draw that the leafblower uses, it will work... if not, you will keep blowing fuses.
If you do find a cheap inverter that you know will handle the draw, let me know. i'll go to goodwill and get a lead blower for $3, buy the inverter and i will take it to the track.
My problem wasn't finding the inverter to carry the load, but they were all like $250 back then.. ebay here i come B)

most leaf blowers are 2 cycle engines. you wouldnt be able to just tap into the fuel line. it needs a gas/oil mix.

but i dont even know why we are discussing this, its a dumb idea to try to make a permanent mod out of this.

Go down to a marine supply place and get a bilge pump. Yes, a bilge pump.

Lets keep one thing in mind, that power gain was sticking it to the intake tube, no filter. I doubt you'd make that much horsepower but actually mounting a leafblower in your car. It would HAVE to run through a filter or your motor will not last. Also when the leaf blower is not on your going to have to pull air through the leafblower which is going to kill your power.
