RIP.

Now I'm scared of working on my car tomorrow...I'm pulling the tranny and i'm going to be under there for a while. Getting crushed by a car that falls is one of my biggest fears.

I always have a hard, un-tipable object at least the thickness of my head/torso under the car. If it fell, it would damage the car, but I'd be ok. Usually a pair of ramps. (I put the car on jack stands, but I slide the ramps under the car as a secondary safety) The car isnt resting on them, but if it fell, they would catch it before I did. Cinder blocks would probably work in a pinch, or a large chunk of railroad cross tie.

Food for thought, anyway.

RIP man.

i usually put the wheels i took off under the side fram rails where you should put the scissor jack to change a tire.
on a lift, its a little different. chances are you're standing up.... and its hitting you on the head and breaking your neck before you even get flat on the ground

Thanks for the comments. His girlfriend is going to be racing the car this year for the entire season. The orange civic recently made 777 WHP a couple weeks ago and they are getting it ready for the first NHRA event. Thanks again.
