you dont have to have the basic bolt. you can easily surpass the type r engine performance by just going with internal setup for the better more aggressive performance output jun 2or3 cams with supertec vavles assem skunk2 intake manifold w/ throttlebody and a aem programable for tuning purposes you can easily out perform a stock type r engine. having the basic bolt-on is just to help it breath better. although, having it is also a plus if you can afford everything it will be much better.

thank you integraturbo but i was look for a lil easier route then havin to take the motor apart to replace the internals. i plan on doin that farther down the road but right now i just need a cheaper easier route

Stick with the plan of the bolt ons then replace the manifold with the skunk 2 or one with the same metric size then just do cams , they are not that hard , if you would want a little more get a vtec control , lose a little internal weight and you should be around the same as a type r
