Default EF bodywork thread

ok so i guess im going to start my body work build..
over the next couple months i will be doing ALL the body work to my 91 civic si..
i will be repairing holes(long story)fixing rust spots, filling dents, and then painting the car...there will be a ton of pix,but this will be hung out for awhile.so all progres will be posted..
first up are the holes i was talking about..the owner before me decided he was going to put a bodykit on the car,i RIPPED off the whole kit,and came to find that the skirts were put on using 4 self tapping screws, and 4 wood screw..so heres the holes and the screws i had to pull out with pliers, because they bondod over them..

as you can see the screws are rusted and so are the holes from them..

the whole body will be straightened out, filled in,and all that..the original owner also decided to mold the sideskirts and sidemoldings on..very shitty job..he used bondo, fiberglass, and newspaper..yes newspaper,he put it behind the skirt so it wouldnt flex..in the above pix you can see the "ridge" of bondo/fiberglass he used on the moldings...oh yea speaking of moldings.this car once done will not have any on the sides seeing how the holes are all out of shape,,and all the clips were broken anyways..so its easier to shave them rather than track them down and go through the work of putting them on and getting them adjusted to fit right..

Good luck dude!
Save that EF!

I have to do body work like a mo-fo on my 89 CRX HF.
On my 90 Civic Si its just the usual quarter panel rust, around the wheel arch area.

But for the wheel arch area I found these, and it just might help you out to:
http://www.rustrepair.com/repair_pan....htm?r=ru&p=sm
They fit both the CRX and Civic, they sale them for bothe sides also.

Hope this helps.

Keep us posted and again good luck!!!

nice..thanx for that link..
surprisingly only my drivers side well has rust and its the surface bubbles,,ive already got them sanded,im about to go bondo the tiny holes after i grind away the rest, then theyre getting filled with bondo..
the car should look pretty good when its done,,and itll def not have any rust after im done, and wont for a very long time

and i took off the emblem they put on the hood(some of you may have seen it,,the red R) so i just got done filling the two holes, now just gotta sand it and prime it..
but im trying to use the least amount of filler as i can..

Damn man only surface rust!
You got lucky dude, on both my CRX HF and my Civic Si there rusted all the way through. But what can you expect when you live in Utah. You've got the Great Salt Lake, which carries massive amounts of salt in the air. And did I forget to mention the snowy ass winters we have here, or the salt they use on the roads 24/7 for the ice. I dont drive neither Honda in the winter, but it's obvious the previous owners have.

Keep us posted!

and a little trick i learned from my boy..ls_ef...some of you may have seen the "duckbill" on the eg hatch..well you can kinda resemble that by just adjusting one little thing,
1. get a wrench and a 10 or 12mm socket(i cant remember which one.i believe its a 10)
2. get a friend or family member to help hold the spoiler.take off the 4 nuts under the hatch that the spoiler on.
3. pull the spoiler off and put the nuts on the holes toward the back(if the hatch is all the way open it will be the 2 top holes)
4. put the spoiler back on( the nuts will be on top of the back holes instead of the bolt going through..now all you have to do is tighten the 2 nuts on the front(the bolts should be through a little bit

basically it angles the spoiler up a little instead of sitting flat off the back of the car..should look like this
