I was thinking Simple Green and a power washer, just wanted to make sure. Anything I don't want to hit? Besides the obvious battery and distributor.

I use some kind of generic Advanced auto foaming engine cleaner stuff and a power washer. Works great.

Edit: your intake aswell. and if you have an air gun thats good too.

One of the cleanest bays Ive ever seen is cleaned reularly with the tire shine foam stuff. He said he just sprays it down and lets it sit, doesnt wipe it off or anything. I guess it all evaporates with engine heat, cuz there wasnt a trace of the foam left.

If I wouldnt have seen it I wouldnt believe it lol. Im thinkin it may be somethin you do to keep the bay clean after you scrub it once tho, he didnt tell me that much. Ya that stuff is rediculously expensive lol.

I stay away from such things, they leave a greasy residue and if you go down a dusty road (lots of those in tx) your bay ends up looking like shit all over again.

i agree with above --- soapy water and a toothbrush is the best way... i've tried a few other techniques and none came out as clean as with the brush

Nah, but on the old stock crap in the engine bay I used Castrol Super Clean and the air, or if I could get my hands on some sort of high pressure water thingy thats what I'd do.. Sometimes the local DIY carwash is your friend

Your car looks fairly stock aside from the ballin rims and the drop, so I'm assuming you probably still have all of the linings and stuff in the fenders, and under the front bumper, which is probably why it stays so clean. That stuff does make a difference surprisingly.

Yea, I haven't touched any of that stuff. Only thing I've done to my car is the suspension stuff, gsr leather seats, rims, oem lip and thin side molding.

One of these days I'm going to put in a b18c1 or b18c5, just don't have that kind of scratch right now. Saving up for it though .

I think that's the combo. My dad will get fucking pissed if I wash everything off with the power washer onto the driveway.

remove engine, wiring, hoses, lines, brake stuff, and any thing else not welded to the bay. now clean with good degreaser. rinse and repeat. get some 220grit sand sand sand prime wet sand 600-800 grit clean prep spray on prefered color of base let flash spray on more base let flash sprau on last coat of base. flash for 40 min or so spray clear let flash spray more clear flash and aply last coat of clear let dry for 8-10hr now start reseambly. dont forget the tooth brush on the engine and trans. re paint brake booster clean master cyl sand blast and paint all goofey brackets and shit. go buy lots of m6x1.0 20mmL flange head bolts now start reassembly now you have a bay worthy of showing off


no just some good degreaser small brush water hose and some time above process will yield better results but more than most can or want to do

I will testify to the tire shine. It can look rather amazing. Although, I saw it in a Neon, and there was a lot more black platic in there. I normally attack with a very concentrated spray bottle of Dawn and water. bunch of different detailing brushes help. I know this sounds really corny too, but pick up some Future Floor Polish (or I think it's Pledge now), and use an airbrush, sprayer, or soft bristled brush, and it's essentially a clear coat to gloss up your shock towers and the other painted metal. Plus side is that if you miss, it washes off with soap or rubbing alcohol. Just make sure you give it plenty of time to dry.

Right on, man. Sounds like its shaping up to be a badass little Civic.

Oh yeah, my dad got pissed at me for the first couple times I did it in front of the shop. Its a nasty mess, let me tell you.. Especially after a set of CV's go bad and spin grease everywhere. Ouch.
