Default Painted Car myself!!!

I did this in about 2 day using my uncles boat shop. Sanded it down with 80 grit and worked my way up to 400. Bondo, bodyf filled all that crap, and then primered. Used a solvent to wash, and then scuffed it up with 320 and scotch bright pads and then painted, acrylic urethane with a 50 dolla hvlp gun and an twin tank 160 gallon compresser./ I got the gun from harbor frieght for 42 dollars.

First time spraying a whole car!! there are a couple of runs that im going to have to be very careful taking out or the metalic pattern will look bad.

yea... but when you have a compressor and a couple of power tools it really makes it much easier. i stated out by hands and a 3 gallon pair of lungs lol

overall a paint job cost me
275
-----
169 paint
42 for the gun
tape paint cups all that other stuff
RESPIRATOR!!! and safty suit.

if you dont have a compressor you can rent one at sunbelt rentals for 60 dollar a day. If you rent it on saturday, then you dont have to renturn it until monday at 8:30 for the same price ^^, you will only be using the compress for around 4 hours. Its really easy to paint if you practice for about an 1 hour before paint, and tune you gun well. everyone can do it!!

Wow. Those are awesome results! No clear? Single stage paint? I'm going to try to paint my truck and my wife's car at some point.

Looks good I like the color good job. I do have a question though: Why didn't you leave off your molding on the doors and fill it in then paint the car so that the doors were kinda shaved

its harder than it seems and i only had friday-monday to do it because its my daily driver for work. to properly shave your door you need to carefully cut and weld the metal. If i could just stuff a bunch of bondo in there i wouldve done it already, but that doesnt work at all. thanks for the compliment!

Yeap single stage paint. no clear. the paint(base) settles to the bottom when you shoot/dry. Also it depends on what hardener you use as well. i used a "wet look" hardener. also make shure you get the right reducer this will be very very very important. For example if you are painting in low temp weather you need to select fast dry reducer i want to say between 60-75, from 75-85 even 90 i would select medium reducer, then ov course 90 and up fast.

then for most acrylics scuf entire car with 320grit because the paint goes on very thick so it will cover up the scratchesfor that high of a grit. and use solvents!!! use them before you sand and after you sand. if you do that the paint will stick like glue.

GET THE WHOLE KIT AT TCPGLOBAL.com, they carry everything. for a really good price!

you should try the duplicolor wheel paint, i saw it on a jeep forum and it looked pretty nice the graphite color. i dont know how it holds up though, it a poly urethane formula so im pretty shure its strong.

That's what I was saying. I painted my hood flat black, same with the middle of my roof and the tiny little panel on the trunk. It wouldn't look so bad if the rest of my car was painted too lol.

horrible horrible horrible idea...
do not use precuts. they dont last, they fade, they rip and come off in like 3 yrs.
find a professional tint get em done for 150-300$ and enjoy them forever.
