Default Speed Bumps and Body Kits

well i dont own a car with a body kit...but i found a nice car with one on it for a decent price...and i dont want to have to rip the body kit off if i dont have to. So i am asking if anyone has experiece with speed bumps/rail road tracks and body kits. I am mainly asking this because there are some speed bumps at my school and i dont want to hit one and have it rip my body kit off and tear the car apart lol

How much clearance is there between the ground and the bottom of the car?

If you have at least 2 to 3 inches of clearance you may be able to make it over the speed bumps at your school by going over them at an angle.

what is the kit made out of? if it's urethane it will be ok. odds are likely that it's fiberglass.

clearance depends on where you live also. when i lived in utah, driveways were always hard to get into because they were made for water runoff. driveways and ditches will always be the hard part. speed bumps are easy.

it's not lowered? and 1 or 2 inches isn't enough. it would annoy me. and i have owned body kits before. never again. maybe a lip or something.

even if he still has the stock parts, tehy probably aren't paint matched.

There are speed bumps that my integra bottom out on around here. No kit. The suspension was changed out for an ITR suspension, so its lowered maybe .5" from stock.

Just depends on the speed bump, I guess.

plus you have to worry about other parts to. if it's too low, you will scrape your header, exhaust, etc.

ive had cars that sat really low. body kit, 17s and dropped 4" (coilovers) and i had to drive over speed bumps and occasionally entrances, slow and at angle.

i had a combat body kit on my da teg and i went threw a automatic car wash and the little thing that holds your front wheel in place caught my rear bumper and riped the whole corner off. it sucked ass cause i didnt have a choice cause there was a car behind me and i had to go strait. fiberglass sux but its easy to repair. my suggestion would be raise the car back up with the body kit or go back to oem. body kits look good tho

yeh, im now thinking on just trying to find a decent car without a body kit

i did find a local 98' Civic ex w/ B18 motor and transmission swap, and alot of stuff professionally done to the motor for $5000 OBO

only problem is it has a salvage title due to hitting a deer and the power locks dont work

well if you get a car with a body kit and a mild lowering job, it wont be that bad. hell if anything, just swap the spring out and either put coilovers or air ride in place. they make bolt-on air ride kits for just about any Honda/Acura out there.
