Which radar detector do you use? I am thinking about about going with the V1 after reading the reviews on Radar Reviews.Net Your #1 Online Radar Detector Website! but I was unsure what everyone else was using on here. I live in houston and seems like we have a lot of laser and red light cameras...thinking v1 is my best bet?

valentine v1 never gotten a ticket with it... warns u way ahead of time.... 1 time I didn't use her I got nailed.. damn GF stealing my toys!

I can say the same thing about my passport 8500. although I have never let it out of my site, my wife would never be able to steel it from me.

I don't see a need for the V1, it's expensive. But hell so was mine. I have a Passport 7500. Bought it two months after I got the EM1, and along with chilling the fuck out on speeding I haven't gotten a ticket yet.

For me, it's just nice to know when I'm being clocked. Keeps me in check from speeding even that little bit while trying to pass or something like that.

I bought mine in 2001, and I just upgraded it a few months ago. I love it.

As far as all the radar detector reviews, make sure you know where the reviewers have worked before (most are NOT unbiased), and make sure that the feature sets displayed are correct. I've seen a LOT of incorrect information in these so called "radar detector reviews."

Yeah i have the Passport 8500 (with the blue lights), It's a good detector I just live in the thick of a city so everything sets it off and it more or less just slows me down.. But It's good for highway cruising.

love it, early warnings have saved me many times from like 10-15 mph over the limit.

The Passport 7500/8500 can be upgraded for free as well.

Upgrades aren't free, especially with new hardware additions. I doubt that they are with the Passport either.

Came with the car, hardwired into the accessory circut. It's great except that here in Europe they use Ku-band in about everything. (Especially the speed cameras mounted in the back of cars.)

honestly all radar detectors are worthless, nobody even uses radar anymore its all instant on laser and by that time guess what your already caught.

your right i shouldn't say nobody but very few law enforcement agencys do anymore, i know in ct it is all instant on no more radar. the only thing a radar detector is good for round here is to tell ya what stores have a revolving door

^ that's BS, my radar detector picks up our local police with there radar units on while they are driving around, I've only witnessed once about a week ago our local police using an instant on. So in CT it isn't all instant on.

neonmike, you really must not have a high cop concentration up in CT. Down here in Texas, we have regular need to track 3, sometimes 4 cops within range of each other all the time, and there's tons of room to pick up instant-on reflections before you get near a cop that can clock you.
