Question can't figure out what engine i have.

i was wondering what engine i have in my rex... it's an 89 hf with multi port injection but no vtec. that and does anyone know the safest level to take the rev limiter to? limits at 5500. thanks.

howd you get a 89 with mpfi...thats odd. those are usually dpfi.

Do you have a tac in your car? If so, consider the red area the redline. I dont think the change between mpfi and dpfi is going to warrant a higher redline.

Check the engine code on the block and get back to us. Someone might have swapped a different engine in there.

Itll look like this:



your engine will look SIMILAR to this one, and it will be under the upper radiator hose.

Thats probably chiltons talking. those are the same people that told me my exhaust manifold should be tightened to 44ft/lbs.

hf definitely doesnt have the same engine as the si.

i'll have to go look at it tonight cause i'm at school. but the title says 89 crx and in the back tail window it says HF in big white letters. i know i have the hf trans cause of the drop in rpm between gears. i'm just as confused as y'all are...anyway i will post the numbers up later.
