Default Clunking / grinding when turning

I just ran across this problem and wasn't able to find the exact solution on this site, so I'd thought I would share my experiences with all of you.

This problem started when I finished swapping a B18 into my CRX Si. I found when making right hand turns there was a grinding / clunking / vibration that was noticeable in the steering wheel and in the car's body.

Making a long story short it turned out to be the CV joint, which was fixed when I replaced the drive shaft. (There's plenty of advice about that on this site.) What is really interesting / noteworthy about this is that to fix the problem I had to change the left-hand drive shaft to correct a problem that was noticeable when making right turns. It makes total sense, since the left side sees more load under right hand turns and vice versa.

Hope this helps someone down the road.

Hmmm... i had EXACTLY the same thing on my HF. Bum spot in the axle that was really stiff. In my car it was actually causing the entire motor to shift back and forth.

Now that I replaced both sides, I've notice that it turns much better than it did as well.
