Ok, I'm stuck my cars new engine is ready to run just its waiting on a wire harness. I have a new ecu thats for the motor and thats it. my old motor was a D15B2 dpfi and my new motor the D15B7 is mpfi and i cannot find out out to get my car running because of this. as of right now i only have 80 cash and wont be getting any any time soon. so my only plan was to go find a D15B7 at the junk yard and pull the wires from the ecu all the way up to the motor and take them home and connect them to my new ecu and to all the sensor on the motor. is it as easy as that or is their more? someone explain plzzzz. im stuck.

travis..sounds like either way you'll need a conversion harness.. unless you can find an si harness obd-0 (88-91) there are also a few write ups on how to do the coversion your self.. search it.

Why you say that? a entire harnesss from the junkyard will be a direct swap shouldn't it? everything connect like nothing? what would i need a conversion harness for in that case then?

your car is obd-0. Like I said, unless you can find an si harness(obd-0 mpfi) you can do what you said, other wise you will need to convert. mpfi harnesses are mainly obd-1 and later. So if you go to the junkyard and find an mpfi harness it will most likely be obd-1 . Again, do a search for dpfi-mpfi, there is detailed explanation and you can get a better understanding of the difference.

Ok, i found a great writeup on this but i need help.
as of right now i know im going to have to buy a soldering gun and heat shrink thing, extra wires and a injector resistor. but what my question is am i going to be using my stock ecu or the one i bought with my new motor??? also, changing a few wires on my ecu and swapping the wires on the tps sensor backwards, and putting in a injector resistor and running the new wires to the new injectors and extending a few connections. is this the only thing i have to do even know i put it in likes its easy??? CAN I JUST GET A INJECTOR RESISTOR BOX FROM A JUNK YARD OR EBAYMOTORS??? and the only thing i know i need to buy as of right now is a injector resistor. is this correct? and if theirs any other stuff i need to buy plz let me know what it is and why i need it. THANKS ! Last edited by TravisCadello; 08-10-2008 at 01:57 AM. |

what injectors will you be running? You can use the obd-0 ecu if you are staying with obd-0 injectors. You dont need a "new" resistor box but it wouldnt hurt. List all the components you will be using and members will have a better idea of what to suggest. You mentioned a d15 motor, but nothing about which components. Be specific.
![]() You can run obd-0 and obd-1 components together with a little fab work. |

![]() That's what my motor build was. It was very functional, and treated me well. Didn't have to worry about anything else, either.

well, little to late now. i pulled my whole dash and carpet everything inside the car out and pulled out the stock wire harness from brackelight to headlight and pulled a 95 civic wire harness from tailights to headlights and im gonna be swapping them like this. so yea, i been putting a LOT!!!! of time into this dam car. i got the complete harness out the 95 civic for 29.99 at a junkyard. im justing waiting to buy a obd1 distubtor and ignition key. and it will fire up finnally.
what kind of cars can i find a distributor that will plug into my 95 civic harness? |

Sad part is, you will probably still end up chopping and splicing wires.

Well i bought a Si ecu PM6 out of a crx si for $37.99 and the engine harness only for $27.99 and all that money was wasted when i found out it wasn't just plug and play. so after that my internet got turned off and i had no axcess to the internet so i went the way i know how and been workin since. the only thing i need now to start the car up is the under the hood fuse box and the distrutor and ignition key. after that i have to figure out how to wire all the lights up and blinkers. but from i have read wiring up the wires on the stock harness seemed difficuilt and long and boring.

Wiring from dpfi to mpfi for the first time would have taken you 2 hours tops, along with giving your brain some food. It's obvious it's starving. Now you went and gave yourself 50x's more work that's gonna take 100x's the time it would have taken you if you would have just spent that much more time searching and quit being lazy.

well, yea i regret it but hey! everything connected from the engine harness to the ecu and thats all i wanted in the first place. the lights and all shouldn't be hard at all and now i can say i converted my car to obd1 myself and got experience with all my electronics and i now know how to remove my dash seats carpet and everything. so i kinda did this so i can get some expericence and get to know my car a little better. the lights should be kinda easy. i wish someone would had just gave me some easy instructions i would had done it that way. but their was already a stock engine harness on my motor and i didn't wanna take it off and redo everything. why not plug and play the correct ecu with the correct engine. i also had a feeling the crx si ecu would make my motor not run or run badly and the stock 95 ecu ment for the motor would run it great. that was my main concern. |

I'd rather not pay $180 for that and plus add and move around wires at the connecters on the ecu. id rather pay $30 and plug and play everything and get to know my car a little better.
or 104! it was 180 last time someone gave me a link now it went down i guess. thats not bad at all but is to late for me to go back. Last edited by TravisCadello; 08-28-2008 at 11:38 AM. |

What did you learn from changing out the entire harness? How to remove things you'll never remove again? Time is money. Even if you spent $180 on the jumper harness, you would have saved so much time to do other things. Plus, if you did the dpfi to mpfi yourself, you could have made money doing it for others who don't know how ![]()
