I am putting a d16a6 head on a d15b2 block.
I ordered the head gasket set and what not,
and i was told today, that when u put a new headgasket and everything on you want to buy new bolts. because where they torque em too stretches them out so there no good after you bust em off.
is this true?
what bolts is it actually?head bolts?
thats expensive, guy said he paid 35 bucks for the bolts for his escort.

Yes...Honda uses torque to yeild bolts and they should be replaced when removed. The reason they use this method is for different expansion rates for different metals. Once the bolts are removed...they have been stretched and will not perform in the same manner as intended. I know there are stories about people reusing these bolts...but better safe than sorry. Spend a little extra now, or possibly a lot extra later.

I didn't realize ARP made reusable headbolts (fantastic idea). If you get these...awesome, but if you get OEM you will need to replace them everytime you take the head off.

That's awesome. Definitely something to think about next time I have to pull the head off. Which I hope is quite a while from now.

Bro, listen to Blanco and buy some ARP studs. I decided to reuse stock ones and broke 2 of them.

Now I pulled my motor and its in front of my car ( BTW that was a bitch! I wanted to pull it out with axels still attached - good luck!)

Better to do it right and don't take short cuts.
