Angry Power steering rack in a CRX?

I ordered a rack from a place online and they had sent me one for power steering instead of manual. Is there a way to keep this rack and just connect the lines to keep fluid in?

I think you'll find it doesn't fit your crossmember. The PS rack is bigger around and the crossmembers and brackets are different enough that you can't use one for the other. I just converted from PS to manual on my '91 HB and got to learn this first hand.

Everything bolted right up except for one bracket and It came with a bigger one that fit. My worry is the fluid leaking out, then the rack locking up on me then i'm fuuuuuucccck'd.

Are you sure you've got that rack in there correctly?

Here's a pic comparing the PS bushing and bracket with the manual versions.

As you can see the PS rack is much bigger. The bolt pattern isn't the same on the bracket either. Maybe the PS rack could be bolted up to a manual crossmember using the PS bracket but I bet the bolts are angled slightly and there's a big gap between the bracket and the crossmember and between the rack and the crossmember at the top. If that's the case I'd be afraid of breaking something.

You're basically on borrowed time until that rack seizes. There's a work around on some cars, like Miatas, where you can take the rack apart and remove the parts that the power steering pump activates, then fill it full of grease and put it back together. But I haven't done it on a Civic/CRX rack.

Thanks for the info, that helps a lot. So my best bet is to send the parts back and have them get it right or box and ship myself to the place in NC to catch an assault case. LOL
