No i thought about it after i posted ppl would see the a6 and think it was a si. its really a dx i just did the d16a6 swap. but the tranny was changed by the last owner and he didn't know if it was a si trans or now but the gears are really short so i was wondering if it was a si trans.

look beside where the axle goes in the trans, there will be a part that says L3/A or L3/B000/3000/6000/9000. see what it says then post up.

So AHHVTEC, which code is for a SI? i just swapped a supposed SI cable tranny for my brother in law into his dx and its a bit faster than before but we aren't sure. then again it is a 80hp engine from 1990 so it probably hard to tell by the butt dyno. Anyway, i can look at the code sometime in the next few days and see but i didn't know what code i would be hoping for, so which is for a SI? thanks man.

another myth that has been around for years - the numbers in the circle which say PL3/A000, PL3/3000, PL3/9000 are the transmission case numbers and only indicate whether the case is for the large bearing or small bearing transmissions - some Si transmissions came with the small bearings and the case will say PL3/A000, but it still has the Si gears - ZC transmissions with different 2-5 gears and different final drive also have the large bearing case and have the same numbers in the circle as some of the Si transmissions - HF and 4-speed transmissions have the small bearings and will have the same numbers in the circle as the DX - in addition, a lot of these L3 transmissions have had the final drive from the Si swapped into the DX transmission or vice versa - we have seen people selling transmissions as Si, with the numbers in the circle like the Si, but the Si final drive has been swapped out for a DX final drive, ending up with a DX transmission - the Si transmissions bring a lot more money than a DX - the only real way to know for sure is to remove the back half of the case and count the teeth on the ring gear - Si has 68 teeth and DX has 70 teeth
