Rep Power: 195 | That's true; most of the people using diesel(semi's) turbos have it on their V8's. Some diesel turbos aren't that big; I work at Caterpillar and the Front wheel loaders have a moderate sized turbo(probably about the size of a T25). Then again, construction tractors don't have to move as fast as semi's or move as much weight. |

Rep Power: 45 | i say try it out and see how it performs. never know, diesel turbo may be the best new performance swap. ![]() "PUT THAT ON YOUR B20 AND SUCK ON IT!" |

Rep Power: 33 | I've seen that pic before. I just don't know of a car on the road that would spool that beast. Don't crx's come with the b16? |

| !!YTINASNI | I don't know much of turbos, but diesels make all their power at low rpm, we're talking 2500-3500 rpm.. I would think that a turbo designed to give boost at such low rpm might go nuts in a high strung gas engine.. Entirely a guess, though. P.S. Is that a train turbo or something? |

| Junior Member | This is off of like a ford turbo disel pickup not a semi. and I bought it for 35 bucks. used in good shape.... the guy got it from an estate auction and it was in a box that he bought for like 5 bucks. you can go to the link at the bottom to see pics of it. I am also building my own manifold for it out of my stock one im gonna just take some flat steel plate and cut it to mount up to the turbo and one to mount to the manifold then weld pipe to both to make a custom turbo manifold. i plan to run all of my exuast through the turbo (it should spool nicely that way i hope). I figured that it would be better then like the manifolds i have seen that only allow partial of the exuast through the turbo. the turbo is a Schwitzer S1 Turbo Charger by Borg Warner. eBay Motors: USED Schwitzer S1 Turbo Charger Borg Warner (item 380054335984 end time Aug-13-08 19:26:57 PDT) Last edited by zootel; 08-17-2008 at 12:57 AM. |

Rep Power: 195 | Man, I hate when people say that!! In this case, yes you'd want to look at flow; but both matters. When you're picking your turbo and you're looking at compressor maps; you'd have to calculate how much boost you want to run and how much flow you need at the desired rpm. |
