Default VTECH Oil Quantity

I heard that VTEC operates at peak when the motor has the right ammount of oil.

I guess that would make sense because VTEC uses oil pressure to engage.

So would that mean too much oil in the crankcase would take away from peformance?

I'm just kinda curious.

im not 100% sure but from what i understand the vtec doesnt actually "run" on oil pressure, but is more like engaged by adaquite oil pressure. thus as long as you have enough oil pressure to engage the vtec excess oil pressure is irellavent. please correct me if im wrong. and rep me if i am lol

Lee man is right. The pressure is all it needs to move the locking pin for each rocker arm. Check out the How VTEC Works video on youtube..

The middle cam lobe (the largest one) is the VTEC lobe. The middle spring is a Lost Motion Assembly (LMA). The other 2 springs are the valve springs. I think you can take it from there.
