So, I actually do want to put my body kit on. Right now, I have a front bumper and sid skirts. I'll get a rear bumper later. Anyway, i've never done this and can't find much info on putting them on. What do you need exactly (Tools, foam, anything)??? I'm pretty sure I can get it apart and put them on myself, but if anyone has pointers, feel free to let me know! Thanks much!

Not sure about side skirts but to take the bumper off you just need a philips screwdriver and 10mm socket/ratchet. Take the bumper lights off and unscrew the 10mm bolts from there. Also, unscrew the pair of screws on either side holding the bumper to the fender.

Once that's out, just unscrew the screws holding the bumper cover on, and put your new bumper on.

Sideskirts might just be screwed on, I never really looked at it.

Rear bumper has the philips screws that hold it to the quarter panel(similar to the front bumper screws to the fender); undo the two 10mm or 12mm(I forgot what size exactly) bolts from the inside and two from under the car. These bolts hold on the bumper support btw; to find them just follow the "frame rail".

most of the time they have to cut it and add bondo to it.

Fuck that, I can totally do that. I bondoed my hood (Which I painted black) I'm about to bondo the tiny paintball dents in my doors. I know how to work with bondo. What would make me want to go to a shop do you think? And where exactly do they bondo, just where the kit meets the body???

well it really depends on how bad its off, you may get luck and it fir fine but i have seen where they have had to cut some parts all the way in half and add to it

I wouldn't mind. I have some knowledge in fiberglass and bondo, so I'll figure it out. I'd rather just take care of it myself. I don't want to pay someone to do something learnable and probably fairly easy once you get the hang of it.

Just get a lip kit. Looks so much better, fits better, and is a lot cheaper.

but for the sideskirts get yourself some self tapping screws and put 2 in the rear(wheel well)and two in the front(fender)then 2-3 in the door jam on the kick panel...
also pop rivets look good for holding kits on,,,
and fiberglass kits are shit,,they crack,scratch and break easily,,

Well, fiberglass really isn't for the beginner but if you've played around with it before, go for it.

Well, if I run into a problem, my mom's bf used to racecars/ repair his. He's an expert with fiberglass. Yeah, I was thinking of just keeping the front bumper (It's decent) but getting new side skirts and a rear bumper.

usually the front bumper they leave it long on the top(the part thats under the head lights that you dont see) so you have to trim it to fit propper and depending on wich one you have you might have to remove the steel bumper completely. the body kit just covers were the bumper was

One nice thing about fiberglass is you can flex it a lil. When you get the bumper on leave all the bolts and screws loose, so you can still move it around. From there work with one area at time, push/pull the bumper into place then tighten the coresponding bolts down, then move to the next area. Never done it on a Honda, but on other cars I go from side to side then to the end (i.e. front or rear, wut ever bumper your workin with). I think someone said earlier to use pop rivets, if you can hide em and keep em away from the edges of the fiberglass they actually work good. Try to keep em a lil more than twice the diameter of the rivet from the edges (i.e. 1/8" rivet a lil more than 1/4" from the edge) to reduce the risk of the glass crackin later. If you have to cut sections out to alter the bumpers to make em fit I suggest just gettin a fiberglass kit and replacing wut you cut out with all new material. If you bondo the piece you cut out back into place, after you get it all sanded down and ready for paint youll have a really weak spot in your bumper since the only thing holdin the piece in place is the bondo on the surface.

Yeah, I heard bondo wasn't a good choice, also considering the cracks in a couple places. I'll definitely be getting some fiberglass.

Btw, anyone know anything light than steel to brace the pieces with, so they don't crack anymore?

Ya, the whole problem with bondo on fiberglass is bondo doesnt flex, fiberglass does. Itll work, and you can make it look good, but if you were to just barely bump into somthin with your bumper thatls most likely cause it to crack.

Try some aluminum flat bar. Light, cheap, and easy to form/drill without special tools. you can get some 1/8"x1" for dirt cheap. And you can buy it by the inch so you dont hafta buy a bunch that you dont need.

instead of bondo use glazers putty it cost alittle more but comes out nicer less pores in it
