Default 85 CRX 5speed Transaxle swaps what fits?

I have an 85 CRX and the Shifter is super loose (lots of play) though it goes into gear and I was interested in moving to a higher gear ratio over all but I dont know what cars have an interchangable transaxles with my car.

I only just started playing with honda cars I have previously been playing with older american made cars/trucks and BMW motorcycles.

Thanks for any help

D16A1; CG transmission out of the 86(?)-89 Integras. Maybe you can even swap in a 4.25 final drive in there for even shorter gears(stock CG is 3.88)

the only transmissions that are interchangeable in the 85 CRX are the 84-87 CRX and Civic transmissions - nothing else works - the HF has the longest gearing - the DX and the 85 Si are a little shorter than the HF and the 86-87 Si are the shortest

OK I read some where and I think that it said that the honda civic cx and vx 5 speed had about the same ratios at the CRX first gen. HF and would swap right into a first gen CRX exept for the clutch system (crx = cable cx/vx = hydralic) and even the crx axles would work and the little 1.5 litre will bolt right up

Is this true and if not what is different making it not work

Thanks

that is not true - 88 and up transmissions will not bolt to your block - different bolt patterns - the mounts are also completely different

the 92-95 CX and VX do have gear ratios similar to the 88-91 2nd gen CRX HF
