I have a 94 civic dx coupe with a D 1.5 engine. I just bought a motor (B1.8) from a salvage yard out of a 91 acura integra with 56K on the odomoter for $600 (6 mos warantee). It has an auto tranny, but I want to keep my 5 speed. Can you tell me what is involved in installing this 1.8 motor into my civic? I am planning on replacing the water pump and timing belt before installing the motor. I really appreciate any help or advice, and if there are any printed guides or articles you can recommend that would also be appreciated. Pete

that didnt really answer his question shubinjoe but i think the D-series and the B-series motor trannys are interchangable but as for the swap of the B18 into ur civic my guess is u might need new engine mounts correct me if im wrong

it is actually possible to use the d series tranny with the b series angina but there are a few obstacles....
first you have to see if your current tranny is a wire or hydrolic clutch which you might have to convert or change and the speed sensor will have to be replaced by a b18 sensor also the clutch and pressure plate will have to be changed but i think those are the only things that will differ from one to another |

No, they're not. At least not in the bolt right up to each other type of way. It can be done, but like I said in my previous post you need an expensive adapter kit. Not worth it in my opinion for this swap.

OK you three stop blowing smoke up his ass!
1)You can put a manual tranny on a automatic block, and vise-versa. 2)D and B trannys are NOT interchangeble!!! 3)Only B series to B series. OK no more smoke........ * you will need a B series mount kit. * If your stock D series tranny is hydraulic you can stay hydraulic on a B series tranny, If its cable D series than get a cable B series tranny. * All you really need to worry about is the mounts, ECU and wiring(harnesses) __________________

A.) Yes, I know you can put a manual tranny to a block that originally had an automatic tranny attached to it...if that weren't true then how would anybody do auto-to-manual conversions?? B.) B motors and D trannys will not bolt up to each other, however you could make it work with a custom adapter plate like they do with the H22 and B-series transmissions. Like I said though, it would be gay to waste a crap-load of money doing that just so he can hook up a DX Civic tranny to a 15-year-old B18A. B-series transmission is obviously the way to go here. C.) Well, just re-read what I wrote for B. I was just saying stuff like that is possible, not that it's what he should do. |

I dont no where you live but hopefully you dont plan on getting that ref'ed. I live in cali and to do a legal swap here you have to swap an enigin the same or newer year then ur existing set up. Plus it has to look profesionally done.
Cali is crackin down on us Honda maniacs. |

If I am not mistaken, though I often am
, I think you may have to do an OBD conversion as well. Isn't the B18 from a '91 OBD0? Yours is OBD1.__________________
