Default 95 EX rattle

I've been hearing a rattle (sounds like a loose peice of sheet metal) off and on since I bought my 95 ex coupe in Dec. I use to hear it when the motor was still cold, but now I'm hearing it every time I pass 3200-3300 rpm. Needless to say at 80 on the interstate it's a steady rattle. I don't have anybody to rev it for me to narrow down where it's comeing from, under the hood is all I know.

Any help or sugestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'd say that's very likely. The heat shield on the cat converter has come loose and rattled on three separate Hondas that I've owned...

Heat shield or a broken exhaust hanger somewhere down the line.

Thanks for the replys.

The heat sheild for the cat seems flimsy enought to rattle, but the 2 bolts (that I see) are tight. Is thear supposed to be some kind of bracket securing the passenger side of it? I see a small pre-fab hole, and another about the same size off to the side.

Is it posible for the exhaust manifold it's self to rattle? I put the car up on jacks and had someone rev it at about 3300 rpm so that the rattle was continuose. I don't see anything rattling, but what ever it is it's between the cat heat sheld, and the engin it's self.

Do that and find an old broom handle and cut it down to like a foot or so and apply pressure to things you think are the cause of the rattle, if the rattle stops when you poke it, then you have the cause of it.

Is there a heat shield on the manifold? If so, that could be it. Most likely it's the shield on or near the cat converter though. That's the one that I've always had rattling issues with.

Just do what efhondakid said. You should be able to figure it out pretty easily that way...

That works too, we did the old broom handle trick at work though. That and mom/wife/GF might get pissed when your using thier oven mit to fix your car.
