ok, not too long ago i noticed that my srs light came on but i didnt pay much attention to it. but now my horns arent working either! could this mean that the wiring in my steering colum messed up? before all this happened it was making a wierd noise when i would turn, right behind the steering wheel

Sounds like the cable reel/clock spring has gone bad and needs to be replaced. it's the unit behind the steering wheel that inflates the airbag and controls the horn.

Just get a new steering wheel off of ebay, will be much cheaper that way.

Let's assume his car is a street car:
If his car has SRS currently, and he disables that system, his insurance could ream his ass. Also, driving a car with SRS disabled is illegal in most states. Just get a wheel with SRS. Easier, and legal too. Let's assume this is a dedicated track car: If he removes SRS, he's removing an important safety feature. The OP should perform a personal sanity check on this one, then check with his tech inspector.

No. The SRS is so precise that I wouldn't trust an aftermarket wheel with an airbag. The difference from it saving you to it killing you is only a couple Mg of NaN3. Not a real large margin of error.
Honestly, I've had too many close calls as it is, and I'd prefer all of my safety systems to be in good working order in case something goes sideways on me. Besides, most insurance companies can take the removal of an SRS to mean that you've changed it into a "Heavily modified race machine" and then refuse to cover you. Your state-inspector might fail you too, if your car doesn't have an airbag. Unless you have a restraint system that will protect you in instances where the airbag would deploy, don't remove the airbag(s). Generally this means a 5 or 6 point harness properly installed, and a FIA Approved bucket seat with head restraints. That's a lot of money just to remove your steering wheel. Not to mention how much it sucks getting in and out of a 6-point every time you go out to get some milk....
