Hi all, new to the forum. I've got a 95 Del Sol Si with a blown motor, D16Z6 Vtec with 5 speed. I will be using it as a daily driver so first priority is MPG.
1) What motor do you have and what mod's 2) What type of gas do you use-regular or premium 3) What MPG |

To the OP: How much money are you looking to spend on an engine? If it's anything other then another D-series motor, then you're going to need to swap in a new transmission as well. If I were you I would just look for another D16Z6...

I don't have much money (she thinks I spend too much, that's why I'm in the dog house) so MPG is priority right now. I have looked on ebay and craigslist. It seems there are a lot more D15B motors than the D16Z6???? The tranny is good, just need a motor that will be a direct swap. Are there any mod's that would increase mileage (increased power would be a bonus).

Thanks.
![]() Any '92-'95 D-Series will be a direct swap. Others will require a few wiring changes, depending on which engine. What, exactly, is wrong with your engine?

The previous owner did an oil change and didn't get the old filter gasket off. He lost oil on the interstate and a rod came through the side. Ouch.

Yep, that's blown, alright. A lot of people want to swap engines because of a blown head gasket...like swapping an engine is significantly easier than replacing a head gasket.

Pretty much any engine you'll buy off of eBay will be marked up 100% or more.

Or Craigslist. You can sometimes find pretty good deals on there.

Sometimes it takes some looking. But if you're in a hurry, find a parts car or check local yards.
