hey guys about a month ago now i purchased a 92 civic cx hatch Problem: When I get to high speeds (I wont even go over 130 its to scary) my car starts to sway side to side. When racing someone on a 2 lane road i feel like im gunna sway into them and hit them so i deff. need to fix this why would my car do this? it is lowered on tein adjustable coilovers I do have a front upper strut tower bar. I was thinking maybe getting a rear bar also may help fix the problem. what you guys think?

Um, don't speed? lol A rear bar wouldn't help. Check your tie rods; get an alignment.

Have you ever drivin a 2000lb vehicle at 130mph before? Your driving an oversized sardine can... most likely it's an alignment issue.

I'm with everyone else. Why are you doing 130 mph, even if ya'll are just racing around, you don't need to do 130 mph.

Could be wheel balancing, bent rim, anything. Most likely alignment but its still worth checking the other two things i just listed as well.

You're doing 130mph in a stock eg, and you're only worried about a little swaying? If I go over about 110 mph in my car, it'll sway too. Seriously, even a little bit of wind at those speeds will feel enormous. Not to mention dangerous. If I remember right, ANY car will sway in Kansas when it's windy, even an A4 quattro, going only 80. Your car is probably fine. You're still a moron for speeding like that; when you're not on a road designed to accomadate traffic at high speeds, it's incredibly stupid, remember that your tires only contact the pavement over less than a square foot. Driving that fast anywhere, even on a well-maintained autobahn is stupid, but at least you've got a decent surface, and people understand that there will be cars traveling at high-speeds. Have you ever seen an accident at 130mph? </fear_implantation>

dude, get fucked. its only a matter of time before you get impaled by your own 62hp civic. why dont you go play some russian roulette since it's so extreme? just enough to get your rocks off, and your head splattered.

Alright what I'm trying to accomplish with this thread is to figure out why my car does this and all you guys are doing is telling me to slow down. The only reason I got all mad at that is because its not any help when you guys tell me to "slow down" because all that does is ignore the problem. I know that something is not right because I have had lighter cars with chopped springs that dont even do this. I have been up to 130mph maybe once in it, but it starts to sway at around 80or 90. and i dont drive 100 everwhere i go just to let you know. I am actually a very causcious driver

Hey cool dude. Use spell check. do you have obstructive air foils? have you ever put your car on scales. the ones that let you fine tune how it sits. coilovers take more extensive tuning than just cut springs you know...

Now that we've got that out of the way. Keep in mind that your civic was designed to go 75mph. On the highway. With a trunk full of groceries. You're a moron for driving a civic like a porsche, and you're an even bigger moron treating public roads like a racetrack. That is all. | |

i'm saying... you need to adjust your coilovers. put it on individual wheel scales, adjust how all 4 corners sit, and then adjust the firmness. go over it a few times. suspension is a delicate thing
