ok so i was at my friends house tonight and i was parked in his drive way. its a steep drive way so i put it in first gear with the clutch in killed the car and let the clutch out. i sat in my car fiddling with my zune for about 10 sec. then my car rolled forward (down hill) about 2 inches. another 10 sec. went by and it rolled forward again. so i pulled up my e-brake and it stopped. does that mean my clutch is getting ready to go or its possibly already gone. its never done that before.

it could be that your brakes was just releasing try it again and see how far and how many times it does it lets say in 5 min

mine did the same thing only i wasnt in it and ended up moving like 4 feet and bumped into the back of a van. thats cause the valve seals and/or rings were going and was losing compression

i was told it could be losing compression. i hope its just a clutch i would much rather it be a clutch then a damn seal or something. thanx vtec, ill try that, only problem is i never used the ebrake before, it hadn't been pulled in like a month. i just pulled it then to be safe.

you do know a car will roll forward while it is in gear right? chances are you made a shift in weight, disturbing the car, and it rolled forward and turned the engine over when it did.

nope not possible. the very first time i brought my car to his house i figured it would roll so i put it in gear and got out of the car and tried to puch it. it wouldn't even budge. i know it used to hold in first gear. ive even tried starting off in 5th and it died. that means its not the clutch right?

the way to tell if your clutch is slipping is get it moving to a pace where 5th gear can be used. place it into 5th and hit the gas. if you tachometer climbs faster than your speedo then your clutch is slipping. a 60mph test would be sufficient

ok i tried it. it didn't seem like it was slipping. does that mean that more than likely im losing compression??? it doesn't do it all the time ne more. could that just mean compression loss in one cylinder or something??

that has nothing to do with your motors compression, Always pull your ebrake when on an incline

idk about compression that is just what my automotive buddy told me. i don't use the ebrake cause sometimes it likes to stick and im too lazy to get back there and fix her. plus i don't wanna have to buy rear pads 30,000 miles before i normally would.

Your not supposed to hold the force of the vehicle from the transaxle. Doing this will damage blocking rings as well as the input shaft and its bearing/retainer. This is why they added the "parking brake" to the vehicles brake system. It is designed to hold the weight of the vehicle on a specific angle without budging. Just for peace of mind, next time use your parking brake AND put it in gear. It shouldnt move an inch unless you have a problem with your parking brake/brake system.

Brakes stick, especially in cold weather. This doesnt necessarily mean you NEED pads. Pull the rear wheels off and mic' the rotors/pads and see if they are within oem specs. Also make sure that your caliper slides move in and out with ease. If they do not than you will end up with un-even pad wear and will damage the caliper hardware. If all is in working order than have a brake adjustment done.

well i was sittin at a red light in town today and started to take off. turns out my clutch must be bad cause it was in first with the clutch engaged and i didn't go anywhere. im guessin its the clutch. ill be taken it apart tom. and let yall know.

pull ur car up to a brick wall (touching put a towel on the bumper) and put it in fifth and give try to take off let the clutch completely out and if it stalls your clutch is fine if it stays running with your rpms up its bad. -clutch problem

start car. pop hood. listen to engine. if you hear somthing leaking I(not intake) it could be compression (sometimes compression leaks are able to be heard though so get it checked.)

well i opend her up last night. turns out i was wrong about the clutch it wasn't going out....it was gone, nothing but dust came out when i popped the tranny off. im replacing it ith a stock oem clutch from honda. we'll see what happens.

its on. i put it on about half an hour ago. i brought it to my friends house to see if it would hold on his hill. it does. but im gonna take ur advice if u say so blanco. imma get under it tom. and see why the e-brake cable likes to stick, i figured it was just freezing up when it got below 32 degree's but it still does it so it might need wd-40 or something.
