Default grinding gears. help!
my car grinds into 3rd gear almost everytime i shit into it, and every now and then it'll scratch into 2nd and 4th. what can be causing this?

check the transmission fluid..
mine was overfilled which eventually resulted in this, then ended up ceasing to function.

cable or hydro tranny?

your synchros could be wearing out, or check the bolts that hold your tranny to the engine, if you did a swap and they come loose so you can see a space between your block and tranny could also cause the grinding.

if cable tranny try adjusting your clutch cable.

also, i heard that bad motor mounts can also be a factor, and i do need some so ill get that taken care of and see if it stops it

this might sound funny but it works if you planning on getting a new tranny soon or its already there just waiting to be swapped you can try this trick trust me it works....
squash up couple of bananas (really ripe ones) mix it with one quat of gear oil and add to tranny it will temporarly get rid of the grinding noise until your new tranny arrives....

Try GM Syncromesh tranny oil. It can be hard to find though, check Autozone if there is one near you.

how did you come up with that one?
did you figure since theyre good for cramps, theyll work for trannys?
or were you just eating a banana while working on your car one day and a chewed up piece fell out of your mouth into that little hole?
