Default leaking civic??

so i noticed some moisture in my carpet one day on the floor board of my civic hatchback on the passenger side. i pulled up the carpet and there's a crack in that tar type stuff that is allowing moisture to come up through the floor boards. is this a serious problem? what could i use to cover the cracks?

caulk would be your best bet prolly, or just some rubber cement

the tar type stuff is not ment to keep moisture out. it's sound deadening material. jack up the car and look in that area where u see the leak, look for a crack or soemthing that would let water in. than spray some undercoating on it for quick fix. or waterproof caulk it.
