Default Is an Ls auto worth buying as a DD ?

I have been driving hondas for years but have never driven an ls power teg . Are they worth buying for a DD ? I have an opertunity to buy a 4door 99 civic thats got a b18b and auto trans for a daily driver . the car is all stock . and yes they did make 1.8 powered civics . i am just tired of my over cammed, manual hatch in traffic in Bangkok .Just to avoid being flamed non stop here is a photos of the back of the car and the engine bay . its called a civic Si AT,

that would be a great daily driver! sounds like it would have enough power.. and the ls auto should give you great gas mileage to go along with it!

A manual LS gets better mpg than an auto. Trust me, I know.

but slush box i said " i am just tired of my over cammed, manual hatch in traffic in Bangkok"
not worried about mpg . just really tired of physco traffic jams and pushing in the clutch 500 times in an hour to move 3 inches , traffic here can be a total nightmare

If one was able to get ahold of those auto LS/EK tranny mounts is there any other reason you couldn't do this swap in an EK? I'm thinking it would make a great DD for the wife, the auto D16Y8 in there now is low on power and thirsty because of it.

To the OP, ya I'd think it would make a good daily.

it would be too much work to change it to 5spd, ecu trouble, gauge cluster, blah!!!
keep it the way it is?
btw, what does a civic like that sell for?

A manual transmission does get annoying after about an hour in stop and go 1/2 mph traffic. If thats what you're up against, Have at it. I drove a manual truck in austin tx, when they had it all fucked up with road construction. 4 hours a day in traffic jams in a manual ftl.

if you're keeping the hatch, that civic is a very nice ride.

Looks like a perfect daily driver if you're looking to get away from the clutch.
