Default need a muffler

I'm looking for a new muffler for my 1999 Civic EX. I bought a catback exhaust for it a little while ago but am now sick of the loud muffler. Its a Flowtech Airmass exhaust that never included a silencer. I want to know if anyone knows of a muffler that i could weld on the the 2.5" piping I got with the my new exhaust. I want a muffler that is a little louder than stock and has the stock hangers. It should look a little stock also (like a apexi WS2 muffler) Thanks.

I'm just looking for the muffler. I thought the WS2 came as a catback system (correct me if I'm wrong). I want a WS2 style muffler.

why dont you buy the WS2 & sell the Cat-back you bought as a whole or keep it in case you want to go back loud again?

The mounting hangers don't matter. Those are just generic pieces that any muffler shop will have, and they will weld them on in the appropriate location to make the muffler fit your car...

True, but they had to make a hanger by drilling and bolting a bracket in my hatch floor (its bare anyway). Those HKS mufflers are long heavy SOB's, still using the stock hangers too.

Did you switch to a different style of muffler? I know that the 90-93 Integras use a muffler that is positioned parallel to the rear of the car, and then the tip curves out to the back. The older Civic hatches use a similar setup. On a car that has a more standard muffler setup, there should be little rubber mounts for the muffler hangers that you can make work with pretty much any muffler...

Well it had a magnaflow piece of crap on it before, ya it was mounted parallel like the stock mufflers as well on most of the older civics. The HKS has the tip integrated so it had to be mounted out the back and its pretty long. I'm sure it could have been made easier but that would require more work and money, it fit and looks good, all that matters, its a pretty straight-through exhaust anyway.

It will probably need some to be added. Are you installing this yourself? If you're having a shop do it they can take care of it for you...

I think he's hoping on having his Uncle do it for him... and if he can weld (which you said he can) it should be no problem. The only thing is, it will probably take your Uncle a bit longer to install than a muffler shop, but if you trust your Uncle's work, then let him have at it.

I also think you should sell your Airmass exhaust as a complete unit, and just buy the cat back Apexi system. Less fuss with the whole modification/welding/etc...

In the end you made the right choice going with the Apexi WS. I've had mine on a year now, and it was worth every cent.

Good luck with whichever route you choose.
