I would be putting b18c5 swap into a 1993 civic vx hatchback. is this possible or difficult and does the type-r engine handle boost well?

if you don't know how it works, you can't do it. therefore it is very difficult to do.

it doesn't like more than 8psi of boost.

you need to do some research before you post more questions. all of your info that you want is on this site already posted in the general section.

Well i had been looking for a few days and nothing about the difficulty of installing a Type-r motor. This civic is my first import car and don't know much besides that I know the gsr motor is extremely popular. i did know if it was because it is substantially cheaper or easier.

Installing a Type R engine into a Civic is exactly the same as installing a GS-R, B16, or any other B-series engine into a Civic. I would suggest that you do some reading on B-series swaps.

Hasport is a company that makes custom engine mounts for Honda motor swaps, I'd check out their site (Hasport Performance, Inc.). They have installation instructions posted online.

Oh, and if you're looking to boost, I'd probably skip the Type R, and just go with a GS-R or LS swap instead. The Type R engine has high a relatively high compression ratio, it's really meant to be an N/A screamer, not built for boost at all. I wouldn't go any higher than 7-8 PSI on a B18C5 unless you plan on re-doing the internals.

Hope that helps...

on last question then... for around 4500 is it worth a b18c5 installed with under 20000 miles or is it better to just do a gsr? and if i decide not to boost it should i do the type-r over gsr?

hmotorsonline never sold them for that cheap, and those are the best prices i have seen. B series are going to get more expensive because they aren't being made anymore.

and torontojdm isn't that bad. they have some really clean stuff. if you look through the thread, they have a full type r front clip with all the body pieces for like $4500. that is fucking dirt cheap for the quality.
