Well replace it with the same exact tranny for the simplist fix. Is it automatic or manual? Do you want it to now be automatic or manual? You can change that over now if you want. Manual FTW!
Your best bet is just use the auto or manual which was intended for that motor, because it's a lil more powerful than older D series, being that yours has VTEC-E lol... I had that motor, and SOHC vtec has nothing on DOHC vtec swap the motor too if you've got the fundage. |

"I had that motor" I own a '00 civic ex, which used to have a D16Y8, that's why i know it's vtec-e. |

Its a manual tranny and thats the way its gonna stay lol. I dont really wanna do an engine swap just cause i think the engine that it has in it now is a good engine. And its only got about 104 k miles so i still got ome miles to go on the motor. So i guess ill just stick with the same tranny that came with the motor..?

WRONG! The D16Y5 motor in the 96-00 Civic HX also had VTEC-E. Lot of mis-information in this thread guys... If you're not sure what you're talking about, then there's no need to contribute... __________________

the d16y8 trans is considered to be one of the best due to it having welded steel shift forks and all the others have cast aluminum. but a trans off a d16z6 will work just fine it has almost identical gearing as the y8 trans the only thing diffrent is 2nd gear. and just so that every one knows the 92-95 ex and si have diffrent trans the 5th gear is diffrent in a ex than a hatch and delsol
