Default 07 Civic Engine Swap

I have a 07 Civic LX 5-speed, bone stock. I'm looking to do a swap for a k20a1 so i can turbocharge it because i realize the r18a1 im running now couldnt handle a turbo. any idea on how much this would cost (everything else needed for a turbo included)?

Once everything was said and done (K-series swap and a decent turbo setup) it would probably cost you somewhere near $10,000. Also keep in mind that your warranty is going to be voided as soon as you start messing with it.

Should have just bought an Si in the first place...

You don't necessarily need to swap. The R18 can handle forced induction. Just FYI...

It's not going to be your typical setup since the R series has some abnormal parts (like the exhaust manifold, plastic intake manifold, etc), it's also going to be rather expensive since the motor is fairly new.

If you do your own research and piece together a kit and build custom parts like I plan on doing, it can be done for an acceptable price.

And certainly for less than a full K-series swap plus turbo kit I would assume?

I would just swap in a K20A and be happy. It will be quick enough all motor and you will love to drive it.

MUCH cheaper.

But I don't think the K swap would be 10k, probably 4-5k for the swap then 3k or so for the turbo.

Well, it depends somewhat on which motor you're talking about, plus then figure in stuff like mounts, tuning software (probably K-Pro), and other miscellaneous things. You're right, it probably wouldn't total 10 grand, but it would definitely be up there...

Other than a turbo, is there anything that can help this R18A1 performance wise? Mine is leased so I cand do anything drastic.

The first thing I'd do is check your lease agreement and see if any type of after-market modification is allowed at all. If it's a lease, then engine swapping and turbo is out of the question for sure. Other then that, I'm sure you can probably get intake and exhaust for it. That won't help much, but it should help free up a few ponies and at least make the car sound sportier...

Yeah, the stock civic coupe (DX-G) sounds and looks pretty docile, but for a great price at the time, it was a good choice.

Yeah, no doubt. You can't really go wrong with a Honda. If anything, they're reliable as hell...
