First off, I'm new here, so I have no idea where to post this.

Basically, my 1999 civic two door EX cigarette lighter blew a fuse, three times total. The last time it did it, the car started smoking badly, so I jumped out immediately. I had a mild mechanic look at it, and he told me that the cigarette lighter had melted, and I would have to cut off the fuse and rewire all the cables again, and shut off ALL unnecessary power (power windows, radio, etc).

My father came and accomplished this, with one problem... The car refuses to change gears from park mode. I did a search for "transmission lock", and came up with nothing. I don't know what to do... I have to go to work, and getting a ride is difficult. Thanks in advance.

im assuming its an automatic since it has "park mode"?
