Want to know if I can keep y7 tranny and just change the block d15b vtec or am I better off to switch the whole thing. d16 is burning oil like crazy and found a d15 with low milage for dirt cheap? on a restricted budget so not intrested in bigger engines.

its fine. It's a straight up and down, so don't worry about it. Make sure you get the right ecu with the engine though.

wait a sec, you said d15b vtec in ur header but d15 in ur post? Which is it? Big differences...
d15b OBD1 has the word VTEC on the head, looks just like a 1992-1995 Ex/Si engine, and will not work in your car without some wiring issues aka going from OBD2 to OBD1. d15b OBD2 has the word HONDA on it, looks just like a 1996-2000 Ex/Si engine, and that one is a direct drop in with your car, just need the right ecu. If the motor is the OBD1, get a wire conversion harness and you'll have to do a few steps too, not sure exactaly. Best stay away, not worth it imo. If its the OBD2, ffs get it. Lean burn mode? Holy fuck ya! __________________

Hey man, I am doing a swap to D15B from a d16y7 in a 2000 civic ... I found out that the ECU code is P2J (is that right?) but I can only get ahold off of an auto ecu which will disable proper vtec engagement because it will think that it is always in PARK ... are there solutions?
Thanks |

hey man, first off
1) Get your own thread 2) Google it 3)... 4) Profit!!! ____________________ Since you're new, i'll give you a break. If you can only find the Auto, I suggest calling HondaMotorsOnline and other various sites and seeing if you can find the manual. Being it OBD2, you are REALLY limited for chipping/tuning for vtec and proper fuel maps. So the only solutions I can see are... Get the manual ecu Convert to OBD1, get the P08 ecu which is plug'n'play (but no lean burn mode) or chip and tune a p28 (what i'm gonna do). Also, call phearbale.net and xenocron about possible vtec addition to your ecu. I dunno if you can play with a OBD2 ecu like that, but its worth a shot to see what they can do for you. __________________

yea so a guy told me, "I bet I get laid twice as much as you," so I said, "Two times zero is still equal to zero," totally awesome. Well, a penny saved is worth two in the bush, isn't it? And don't cross the road if you can't get out of the kitchen. |
