This is a discussion on Does Windows 7 64-bit really need 72 services running? in the Computers, Games, Electronics etc forum
Seriously? 72 running services? DOes anyone know a site that can help trim some of the fat? Seems like the when I first started using 7 there was almost nothing running, now after Service Pack 1 it looks like fucking XP again....

Crappy PC No More! | The PC Decrapifier

start->run->msconfig->startup->(uncheck boxes of stuff you dont' want to start when you turn on your computer)

Yea, Startup programs aren't the problem, my issue is related to something running in the background somewhere. I found this site ...

Black Viper’s Windows 7 Service Pack 1 Service Configurations | Black Viper's Website | www.blackviper.com

I haven't found anything that looks like it would cause a conflict with my sound.

black viper has been tweaking windows for a very long time, so you configure according to his settings, im pretty sure you're at the minimum for the OS to operate without problems.

btw, windows 7 is pretty smart with resources, if you have the appropriate hardware, itll configure it accordingly. as such, if you're running 64-bit, you should be at least 4gb of RAM with duo core or more, if not, 32bit will fit better.

i7, 6GB ram, it just seems retarded that it automatically starts tons of bs that you are never going to use.

Mine has 65 services running at idle... plenty of headroom in my build though.

Yea, I've got plenty of power to run it, it's just annoying when you are trying to track down such an ambiguous problem.

Oh ok, you're still troubleshooting the sound issue.

Haha yea, it probably would help to note that my observation of the amount of services was because I'm trying to track that down still.
