What made you decide to go with a Macbook? I have never understood why someone would pay 1k for a laptop unless you travel a shitload and your using it as a desktop replacement.

I dont have a Desktop. I do all my work from this computer.

Now to answer the rest of the pnut gallery (aka B & E).

Im sick of windows. Sick of vista @ work. Sick of not being able to buy a laptop that DOES NOT have vista. Yes I am aware of the "ultimate vista" upgrade/downgrade 2 xp option, however that only adds cost to the machine & no spec value.

Ill be honest, i never used a mac before buying this one. Learning curve = 0. The os is smooth as silk. No spyware/adware/spamware/malware protection programs running in the backround slowing down my computer. Its great.

anyway, macs are great for people who want no freals, dont want to spend time to learn new software/GUI and willing to pay the premium. they come with a lot of software and easy to learn. now heres the bad.

every mac wants to be a pc and compatibility is a hit or miss. why does it want to be a PC? because PowerPC processors were SOOO great that they had to jump ship and go with the x86 chips (intel). OSX is so great that they feel the need to be able to dual boot Windows with bootcamp. lastly, if you were a serious gamer, you cant just go out and get the latest and greatest because a lot of games arent for the OSX and hardwares need drivers that dont like OSX (if they ever do come out).

I dont have XP running via bootcamp. . . just osx. You are right on the gaming thing tho - and actually now that i think about it - boot camp will kill off mac gaming. . . . no point of making 2 versions of a game if everyone can run the windows version either on windows or on a mac with xp via bootcamp.

Heh well that was certainly funny.

Either way, i wanted something that was responsive had a nice solid feel & ok graphics. I have to use this for my only computer for work & for home and I store most of my stuff on an external drives in office and at home. Ill never have to store anything of significant value on this pc other than photos of apartments. Any & all software needed for word processing & spreadsheets are available as web-apps (like google docs).
