Welp, I've been on the phone with crutchfield and dell for the past two days trying to figure out whats wrong with my home theatre.

My setup was working perfect until two days ago. suddenly, my dvd's would flash on/off in 1-2 sec incrememnts for ever. But, only on the hdmi output. Hrmmmm. is my dvd player shot, or is my tv shot? after tons of troubleshooting, and finially spending another $100 on a hdmi -> dvi cable (my tv has both, but my dvd player only has hdmi), it worked- putting the culprit on the tv.

Hung up with crutchfield, called Dell. I actually got an american guy too -- which is why i called crutchfiled in the first place. I love thier tech support and the way they do business. I don't mind paying a little more for a product, knowing that they stand behind it for LIFE. Anyway, Dell's tech support fuckign sucks... or at least it used to. Perhaps, maybe their tv tech support isn't in india anymore??? Either way- i was impressed.

They had an inhouse setup and the guy was actually playing with his demo model as we were talking.

All said and done, they think the hdmi board of the TV is out. They are sending me a new one for in-house replacement

Another porblem i had was that the sleep timer would not work. it used to, but it broke at the same time the hdmi did. Something must've fried.

What sucks, is that it won't be until mid-march. They are all on backorder until then. Damn popular unit i guess- they can't keep up. But, the tv still works- i just have to use the dvi input for now, or component vid.. i have both plugged in, so we'll see :P

Crutchfield > * for customer support.

Dell's computer support is still in India, that's for sure.

Until 2006 when HDTV is standardized everywhere, my little setup works just fine.

BTW, what are all the higher end video connections mentioned above? I'm just using component video outputs.

i got the table from my old work. it was just sitting in my room on its side with the legs off. why spend 400 bucks on a nice glass unit or whatever when i have a table sitting right there? when i get my own place, i'll be using the table as a table, so i'll get something for it then.

as for my bed- i've had it since i was 4. whatever. i don't sleep with anyone but myself.
