My wife and I got two new computers we each had a budget of $300 and she got a netbook. I on the other hand, decided to get a new desktop case, motherboard and processor. I used most of the parts from my old one because there was nothing wrong with the stuff. The mainboard was acting weird so that's why I got a new one. The processor was running at about 68*-71*c with the fans on full blast sitting at idle. Bear in mind that the maximum operating temp is 69.2*c. Anyways I know there is atleast one of you who wants to know what's in here.
Motherboard: MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum Processor: AMD Phenom 64 9500 Quad-Core 2.2ghz Memory: 2x 1gb DDR2 5300 (There are 4 slots upgradeable to 8gb and I found 2gb chips for $20) Storage: 120gb IDE HDD (Windows) 80gb IDE HDD (Electric Sheep) 160gb SATAII HDD (Music) Video: ATI Radeon x1300 512mb ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() __________________

Bought it from compusa it's an acer aspire one series model zg5. It's got a 160gb hdd 1.6ghz single core processor 1gb DDR2 ram 8.9" screen. After tax it was like $320. The motherboard processor a wireless n router wireless keyboard/mouse was $299.67 at compusa. The case i got from a mom and pop store here in town and it was $69.99 he gave it to me for $59.99 and threw in two hexbugs.

I replied to this I don't know why it didn't show, oh well. The case was a display model and the guy had the bugs inside of it and when he took it down and brought it to the register to put it in the box I jokingly said you can leave them in there. He said sure you can have them and put the case in the box with them in it. I guess you can say he gave me a bugged case. My wife really wanted a laptop so she could surf the web without having to go on the desktop and I figured I could use it to tune with. She loves it so far.

I'm on my netbook right now. Desktop hasn't been up since October.
![]() Your build looks pretty cool. Honestly though, I would have spent less cash on the case and bought more RAM and a new video card. The processor has quite a bit of horsepower but no tools to utilize it with. If you're not playing games or doing CAD work though, you could have gone with a lot less CPU and a bit more RAM. By the way, there's a deal on Newegg today for 4GB of OCZ DDR2 PC6400 RAM for $53 shipped and a $40 rebate hanging on it. __________________

Yea but like I said i wanted to get the new board and cpu for now because my old one was running extremely hot. As for ram I'm gonna wait till I get paid and go buy 4 sticks of the 2gb ddr2 1066 ram to max out the ram. When I get some money saved up I will get a nice sli setup.

Honestly, better to get one badass card than SLI with two cheaper cards. __________________

^ No they don't, unless you don't mount them right or you overvolt them too much.
Nice case, but yeah you should try to get 4GBs of RAM and definitely a better card. Like Calesta said one badass card >>> 2 ok cards for the most part. SLI looses a lot of performance from driver issues so you never get 100% performance from the second card but you do get all the heat... |

16 yr olds suck, they overheat.
just curious, how much was the cpu+mobo? i wouldve picked up a phenom II instead of the original because they overclock much better, run cooler and 10-15% faster than the older ones because of its new node process. if you're forunate, some of the X3's have been able to unclock the 4th core and overclock as well. anyway, SLi and CF support has gone way up and more games run smoother than before. right now, two HD4770s in CF spanks any single card out there for about $200 (excl. X2s and GTX295). regardless, always good to upgrade. |

CPU was $100 and the board was $120.

I got mine at a mom and pop store. CompUSA has them and you can order them online.
