well my g/f is wanting something to beef her tv up in her living room, she has a 46 inch lcd and the speakers suck, but her living room really is not big enough for a full on surround sound system. so i was thinking about getting her one of those speaker bars with wireless sub thats separate. was wondering if those was worth it. or should i just tell her to go big or go home.

I really enjoy my surround sound with wireless rear speakers. If you're sitting on my loveseat you get the full effect of them. The three front speakers and sub are wired into the main unit, but the rear speakers are wired into a wireless receiver. I've had mine for a year, they work great. (They're also panasonic, which I've never had a problem with except in car stereos)
