I know *a little*. I use Mint which is ubuntu with prettier graphics and built in codecs.

You could try using older versions of the usb drivers, something other than 2.0.

Winehq.com has an app database to show compatibility. It didn't show at all under there. WineHQ - Browse Applications

If it is a real popular app its going to work under wine, if not, good luck.

Is there any reason you can't mount you drive under ubuntu, did you try sandisk's website for a linux version? I have two usb sticks and both work on my comp without Wine.

I tried Ubuntu for a while but I just don't have the time to figure all of that crap out... In all honesty why do you want U3? Its more of an annoyance than anything else if you ask me.

I wouldn't use it for the longest time either. linux wouldn't work with anything. I had a computer crash and I didn't have the XP disc, so I installed Linux, figured out what I needed and havn't switched back since. This time between wine and native programs I can run just about anything I want. It takes awhile to get used to. It seems like Windows at first, but really it is very different.

I still can't use it for work though, it wont run all the apps I want and Open Office spreadsheet's math functions just are not good enough.

After looking into what U3 is, you don't really need it to use the drive, do you?

The app probably does some kind of hacky trick to convince what it thinks is Windows into writing to the registry.

And Ubuntu is getting really usable for most users nowadays, version 9 is out and it's really nifty. Most stuff just works.

Since they're too retarded to add the feature to the program itself...
