Rep Power: 174 | alright guys, here goes. I bought a wireless router and wireless PCI card. Both are Linksys BTW. I put the card in my sisters computer and i try and setup the router in my room. i try to install the 'software" or what ever the hell you call it, from the disc they gave me with the router. when i try to istall it says that my computer isn't connected to the internet?!! WTF! i'm sitting here on HondaSwap the whole time. anyone have an idea of what is wrong? i have some settings wrong?? any help is welcome but please use plain english because i am next to being computer illiterate. thanks EDIT:Realized there is a new forum for this stuff. can a mod or admin move if nessasary (SP?)

| RETIRED | naw, al gore, steve's dad invented it. I just made it more useful :P as for your setup- here's what to do. wall -> cable -> cable box -> router -> computers or phone crap if you're using dsl... but thats the order you need to hook it up with. use XP's network setup tool (my network places -> create a new home network) or some shit like that. follow the steps. using Ie (firefox sucks for this, i have to admit) go to http://192.168.100.1 your router may be different by default. the directions will say the IP. some times its http://192.168.1.1 default userpass is BLANK user and "admin" for the password, get in there and configure you're router. |
